If a guy took a girl out he would want her to have an enjoyable time. But if she didn't eat anything, he might feel as though she wasn't having such a good time. I can kind of understand that. And then... if he orders food to eat and she orders nothing, he might feel awkward eating in front of her. (I would feel very awkward eating a meal with someone who chose not to eat.) If it were me, I would try not to eat much beforehand so that I could at least order something light to nibble on during the date itself. :)

Beckster: While at work I had a thought... Go nuts on the dessert! Everyone has room for dessert, and you can just skip the meal and get a really lavish dessert with a lot of add-ons. Apple pie a la mode, with choclate syrup and whipped cream... and a cherry on the top of course. Or a banana split with extra everything... or order a slice of chocolate cake, and ask them to put an order of chocolate pudding over it, and whipped cream and nuts on top of that... maybe even some sprinkles. You'll enjoy yourself immensely and your date won't feel so awkward.

Alternatively, get a large shake. You can spin out one shake for hours of sipping, and for your purposes it will be psychologically just as good as you eating.

Oh, and with a lavish dessert you can legitimately take your time and make it last every bit as long as his meal. Desserts are supposed to be eaten slow and savored. :D

Who gives a crap about how much the other person eats!! It's their choice if they don't want to eat.
Some days I eat a lot some days I don't feel like eating at all.
You can't change a person. If it's a new date Ofcourse she's going to be nervous give her a break.

I considered myself a cheap date, as I like to bring along my own home made food when I go out.
Haaahaaaaaa that's something I would do lol!!! I prefer a home cooked meal any day lol

I'd ask the girl what she liked to eat beforehand, and then find a good place with reasonable prices and good Yelp reviews. If she still didn't eat much during the date, I wouldn't take it personally.

A date is the fruit of a date palm
this is Chewbacca. Chewbacca is a Wookiee from the planet Kashyyyk. But Chewbacca lives on the planet Endor. Now think about it; that does not make sense!

Why would a Wookiee, an 8-foot-tall Wookiee, want to live on Endor, with a bunch of 2-foot-tall Ewoks? That does not make sense! But more important, you have to ask yourself: What does this have to do with this thread? Nothing.

Ladies and gentlemen, it has nothing to do with this thread! It does not make sense! Look at me. I'm a poster posting in a thread about cheap dates, and I'm talkin' about Chewbacca! Does that make sense? Ladies and gentlemen, I am not making any sense! None of this makes sense! And so you have to remember, when you're in this thread deliberatin' and conjugatin' the Emancipation Proclamation, does it make sense? No! Ladies and gentlemen of this supposed thread, it does not make sense! If Chewbacca lives on Endor, you must acquit! This poster rests.

The point of a date is to get to know one another. Not how much a person eats. I haven't met anyone that cared about a portion size. Dates can be at the movies or in the park or on a beach setting. It's whatever you two do together.

People often say one thing and mean another. Women do it all the time. So it's no surprise that men do too. Whatever their initial comments are to the fact that you aren't a "big eater," they are not a problem. Most men are somewhat logical in their thinking and will put the pieces together fairly quickly: she costs less to feed and keeps her figure. BINGO!

Believe me, if you were horking down three thousand calories at each sitting: no matter what they say to your face in politeness, they'll quickly put those pieces together and lose interest.

The bottom line is that you easily manage this to your benefit by taking the following steps:

1. DO order something. This minimizes the problem of going out to eat and ordering nothing.
2. Be nice. If they express surprise that you are not ordering more, simply redirect the conversation to something they are interested in after telling them that their company is better than a fine meal.

Being logical creatures, they'll do the math. Let's put it into a word problem:

Should I date a person who is nice to me that doesn't cost a lot of money when I take her out for a meal and who will keep her figure?

A. Yes, I like nice good looking people.
B. No, I like unsocialized ugly people.
C. I don't know, I'm too stupid to figure it out.

Obviously A is the correct choice and, of course, you'd not want to date someone that is a B or C person anyways. :).

Lolol...

So, men, am very curious on what your thoughts are. Would you date a girl who hardly ate when you took her out for dinner?

Alright, it's been a week and nobody has worked up the courage to ask this.

Are you going to eat that leftover food, because if not, I'll take it off your hands.
