We made "mailboxes" out of shoe boxes and decorated them. Most years we have to have valentines for everyone in the class. I don't think anyone was encouraged to give valentines to a specific crush.

I do remember in the third grade my best friend asked me to tell a girl that he liked her. I liked her too, so that was a tough one. I did it though. She didn't like him back, lol.
I had extremely difficult tastes to get me to even crush on any girl back in high school and college and when I had a crush I crushed hard... until one day a switch went off and my tastes really widened up.

But then late in life I got really really picky again. I just found too many faults with any woman I met...it got to the point I didn't want to even talk to single women for fear they might like me and I would have to tell them they were completely unattractive to me. (I hate being the bad guy) I was having issues extending grace to be honest.

Thank God for my wife!

She is my best friend and favorite friend. She is so awesome. Completely took me by surprise when I met her. She still surprises me and delights me.

It's weird how that stuff goes. I wasn't very motivated towards dating/romance until my late 20's. I was just too busy. Looking back, those years were pretty much wasted and lonely and I wish I had been more proactive about finding a partner. But at the same time, I wasn't truly born again so I might have gone in the wrong direction if I had.

When I was about 27-28 maybe, the biological switch really flipped HARD. Man, it's been rough since then.

I sure hope I meet that someone who takes me by surprise one of these days...

Oh I had pretty much given up.

I focused on just making friends...who were extremely surprised when my now wife showed up as a girlfriend.

They knew that I was extremely frustrated and angry about having female relationships especially with single women. Id rather hang out with the guys instead being around a hen party. (We do have more fun)

I had given all the single women in my life the one squinted eye look routine.
But for whatever reason they noticed that I was actually enjoying my friendship with my now wife.

There was one poor woman that physically is more "pretty" and well dressed than my wife is...and has extremely similar educational background and careers...she was so despondent over our marriage it was almost ridiculous.
And it was baffling to her how she is so similar to my wife but absolutely missed the boat. And she believes that there's something wrong with her...but is unwilling to figure out it's her attitudes that need to change. Until she does...she's going to be an old maid... unkissed and unloved.

She sees me and my wife from time to time and she's gotten over it. But how much in love the two of us are is really annoying to her too. We aren't being overly physical with each other or gooshy... just our normal relaxed selves these 11 years later.

And sometimes I wonder what these eternally single people think.

Yep, "beauty is as beauty does." I know what you mean. I've known a lot of gorgeous women that I just couldn't stand to be around.

yea I wondered about that. Never did that in school, though its sort of like a secret santa (I dont like those particularly! get into all sorts of embarassing situations and hurt feelings with inappropriate gifts!)

the most we do is a skite sheet where people write down what they like about a person and pass it round (anonymously) so everyone gets a list of compliments but that can be done any day not just valentines day

Otherwise, not really noted here though one librarian has done a 'blind date with a book' where shes wrapped up some books and posted their first lines on the cover to get borrowers to 'date' them

Ive just offered to read some love stories this week...Slugs In Love, The Love Monster and the chocolate, etc.

Not making a big deal over it, more for couples and I just say its for grown ups really, who like being 'romantic'.

I personally get very annoyed when people wish me happy valentines day because Im not going on any dates! They should tell married or engaged couples that rather than go triggering us singles. hahaa

eternally single people dont really think about what JB claims they think about.

they are not unloved or unkissed I dont think or despondent about not being married

I think they just unconditionally love and kiss everyone and dont want to be tied down. Doesnt the bible say to greet one another with a holy kiss.

whereas those who married in haste, pretty much always repented at leisure.

I dont think I have crushed on anyone since I was school age. Even guys I had a romance with, I never crushed on them before they showed interest. My mind just doesnt go there.

I have a huge crush on Ainsley Earhardt. For years I thought Jennifer Aniston was the most beautiful woman I've ever seen, but Ainsley got her beat. 1 Ainsley Earhardt 2 Jennifer Aniston 3 Marilyn Monroe. It don't get any better than that in my opinion.

Speaking of crush, I used to think that the song "Orange Crush" was performed by R.E.M.
But then I found out that a Canadian band called The Tragically Hip actually performed
that song. TTH's lead singer sounds (or sounded) a lot like R.E.M.'s Michael Stipe.

Sadly, Gordon Downie passed away October 17, 2017. He was the singer and lyricist for the
Canadian band The Tragically Hip, which he fronted from its formation in 1984 until his death.

In December 2015, shortly after attending his father's funeral, Downie was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour.
His glioblastoma responded favourably to radiation and chemotherapy treatment but was not curable.
(wiki)

Downie toured with the band in summer 2016 to support Man Machine Poem, the band's 13th studio album.
The tour's final concert was held at the Rogers K-Rock Centre in Kingston, Ontario, on August 20 and was broadcast
and streamed live by the CBC on television, radio and internet. It was viewed by an estimated 11.7 million people.

Hey all!

This is the crush game!

Simple....tell us if you have a crush!
not single, but people are going to think: "where does this guy live, in an unknown country! here it is (seriously), what is a crush? i really don't know.

Someone you have romantic feelings for and would like to go out with.
