I was not in any way trying to insult anyone who wears dentures or any other device for purposes of health :). Of course some of these things are necessary in life... I guess my point was more toward the "unnecessary" that gravitates more toward "vanity". I would never want someone to forgo the use of a medical prosthetic or convenience that makes their live healthier.

Best wishes to you!

the word "dentures" caught my eye...and as I continued i realized the point you were making. I wear dentures and without them I cannot chew my food which is necessary for healthy living. Even though I have a nice smile, I have to be careful for bad breath and such and when I stay over nights at family/friends, its a bit embarrassing because I take them off for cleansing and comfort and have to be sure to pop em in before anyone sees me. I have no shame, though, to admit i wear dentures. They're mine and I payed for them. As for other parts, gravity has taken place and with a little help from a well fitting, yet enhancing bra, i feel more confident that the clothes i wear are not wearing me and I feel well put together. Would I tell a future husband about it, sure!! Will he accept that - who knows. But since I cant afford implants, a little lift lifts my spirits and thats enough for me no matter who likes it or not.
When I was a kid, my grandma was always embarassed when we saw her without her teeth.

Because of society today, more and more men expect women to look a certain way, to dress a certain way, Women that look normal now days dont stand a chance i believe.

Well Thank God I am already married to Papabean, who loves me for ME then!!! hahah!! Seriously though,......my two girls are lovely......and I pray for them to find mates someday with the same lovingness that Papabean has always shown me........I honestly think there are those who can see past "looks" and those who don't want to.......

i don't like to look fake but i do what i can to look decent lol. I do my makeup for me... i don't really care if anyone notices. Its so I feel at least half human! lol
I hear ya girly.......I wear minimal makeup.......ya can wear makeup so it looks natural rather than caked on and scary....I see it as enhancing what I have rather than taking away from it....

Ok everyone,

My question is, how would you feel if you married someone and found out half or more of their looks are padding and/or, not a natural part of their body???!!! And what would you do??? This particular girl I'm mentioning as an example looks drastically different without her, uh, "equipment." I would hope theyd have a clue what your partner looks like before the wedding day.

And, as Christians, is it wrong to give off what some may perceive to be a "false impression"? I think men want natural but are they really going to be satisfied with women who look less than what social media show. I mean the guys are liking all those pics. So their seems to be an expectation that is the standard for women. Women get insecure cause a man will say something about her natural state where she finds it necessary to go buy all that stuff to feel good about herself.

I myself am lazy--I can't imagine getting up in the morning and thinking, "Gee, I have to put on my hair, strap on my butt, make sure the package in the front is straight (not too much to the left, not too much to the right, not too much up or down)," etc.
And guys have to carefully stick that comb over down. I cant be bothered with makeup. Im not good at it and will look like a drag queen. So I shower, brush teeth and comb hair and thats it. Id rather be doing other things than looking in the mirror all the time. Each to their own of course.

It's interesting seeing these old, and I do mean old, threads dug up and what my thought processes were like then.

This thread is from 2009, only a few months after I joined CC and was a newbie who was just starting to learn about the site.

Ok everyone,

Here we go again! Hopefully I won't get kicked out of a Christian Forum for this...

Here is a thought summarized by a friend and myself this week: you've probably noticed that there are all kinds of "non-surgical enhancement devices" out there (for example, you can buy undergarments, particularly for women, that make you look three sizes bigger than what you actually are.)

My friend was discussing someone she knows who usually wears: false eyelashes, half a palette of makeup, fake nails, padded jeans, padded undergarments, and false hair.

As Christians, we are not allowed to "try out the merchandise" or "take the car out for a test drive" before marriage, SO...

My question is, how would you feel if you married someone and found out half or more of their looks are padding and/or, not a natural part of their body???!!! And what would you do??? This particular girl I'm mentioning as an example looks drastically different without her, uh, "equipment."

I told my friend, "Well, I may not be much to look at, but at least everything that's there is natural!"
I'd be pissed. Yes, I'd feel lied to. What else is she being disingenuous about?

Is it unGodly? Hard to say if it's sin or not, but I don't see it being particularly Godly either.

Hehe! Even more than a decade ago, seoulsearch was still making misleading thread titles to catch the people who only read titles and pop off their posts without reading the actual thread. :sneaky:

Hmm, interesting concept... Wearing "falsies" so your clothes will still fit right. Never thought about that aspect before.

I am surprised at how many women wear hair extensions. Unless you buy really expensive ones and have them professionally put on you can see all of their joinings to the real hair. It is very noticeable and does not look nice. Your better off not wearing them at all and just having shorter hair. I am not sure what happens when you wash your hair, do you take them off each time?

Some guys wear them where I work. It looks like a mop stuck on their heads.

Well... All the guys wore white wigs for a while there, back in our history.

I wondered what caused all this dust in the air. Now I know: Someone blew it off the crypt before pushing back the heavy stone cover.

I wondered why there were so many videos of black women wearing extensions and wigs. Mostly straight haired wigs too. Every now and again Id see them wear curly hair wigs when they had natural curly hair! I think black hair is so interesting, the different types of curls, its really beautiful when they throw away the extensions and go with their natural thick curly hair. But I get how it might not be easy to take care of it.
