When Jesus came upon the woman caught in adultery, did He toss stones to the disciples and tell them to join the crowd? Did He just observe casually for a bit and walk away? When He met the Samaritan woman at the well, did He beat her with her water bucket? Or did He speak to both of them in a loving way that made them aware of their sin, yet helped them to understand that He could help them change, heal, be restored?

When we see an unbeliever sinking in sin, aren't we to extend a hand of LOVE to them? Do we allow the possibility that it might be slapped away to deter
us after all that Christ and those who've gone before us have suffered?

When we see a sibling in Christ faltering, aren't we to help them by talking about it with them in LOVE??? FIRST though, shouldn't we make sure that our point of view is scriptural and not our own imaginings? Shouldn’t we pray about such things and ask the Holy Spirit to give us wisdom and direction? Should we take it upon ourselves to try to do the Holy Spirit's job because changes in other people don't occur as quickly as WE think they should??? Are we always certain THEY are the ones who need to change?

Why is it that all too often we see the christian dogpile effect? Someone doesn’t conform to what some think a christian should look like, act like, be like….just because they don’t look or act exactly like everyone else? Whose image are they supposed to be conforming to, ours or Christ’s?

The next time you see a christian dogpile, please don’t pick up a rock of your own or just walk away. Reach out in love. Please.

the disciples once asked if they should call down fire on a group of people and jesus told them, you know not what spirit you are of.

I love this post Dianna! :)

When they persisted in questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, "Let the person among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her."

When I was a kid I remember someone saying that the army of Christ is the only one that shoots it's wounded. So many times in my life I have seen this happen, both to myself and other brothers and sisters in Christ when they were struggling. Although I do believe that we are obligated to correct our brothers and sisters when they are straying, it does need to be done in love, not legalism and condemnation.

So many churches are lacking the basic foundation of intimacy among it's members that is necessary for people to know what others are struggling with so that they CAN correct and support those in their church family. All too often the church finds out a member is struggling after it's too late and they have completely fallen away.

As far as those outside the church, our only obligation is to share our faith and show them the love of Christ. 1st Corinthians 5:13a God will judge those outside the church.,
