:) I felt led to read Ecclesiastes today, and wow, such a joy to read for anyone going through tough times. Whether it's being single, or whatever. It puts things in perspective :) . Shalom peace and wholeness to all who read this, Tim

I once wrote a paper on Ecclesiastes for school. It was meaningless! Utterly, utterly meaningless!!! :p

My dad pointed out to me one time that verses 2-5 of chapter 12 are Solomon describing people getting old. I thought that it was very interesting.

2 before the sun and the light
and the moon and the stars grow dark,
and the clouds return after the rain;
3 when the keepers of the house tremble,
and the strong men stoop,
when the grinders cease because they are few,
and those looking through the windows grow dim;
4 when the doors to the street are closed
and the sound of grinding fades;
when people rise up at the sound of birds,
but all their songs grow faint;
5 when people are afraid of heights
and of dangers in the streets;
when the almond tree blossoms
and the grasshopper drags itself along
and desire no longer is stirred.
Then people go to their eternal home
and mourners go about the streets

Don't get scared of the 'salad letter' folks, just get the message and all will be fine! (sorry Miss Smith, Sorry Dr. Martin, Sorry Fayetteville, Sorry People of the State of New York, Sorry FBI, Sorry Syracuse University, Sorry Murray Miron, etc, etc)

I don't go by this preacher in a gerneral sense, but on the other hand, for general information this is a good start at an outline. Do you have an outline to share?

Tell you what, Ecc. 12:1-8 are one of the only parts of the Bible that can bring me to tears.

Ecclesiastes is an amazing book of the Bible. It doesn't seem to be mentioned very much which is a shame, because its message is poignant.

Ecclesiastes in a nutshell:

"Without God, everything is pointless."
