You have a pretty amazing mother-in-law.

(Also, I agree with her that there's never any situation in which you should have 4 shots of espresso.)

:p
I really do :) It took a few years for her to really warm up to me, but when she finally did, we got to be kind of like...friends. It's pretty cool.

And four shots of espresso...that was an accident that it ever happened...her drink got messed up and they put my espresso in her hot chocolate, plus in my drink, so I drank both and could smell colors...yeah, that shouldn't happen, ever.

At the end of our piano lesson, my students (two sisters, both in elementary school) asked if we could call my fiance and say hi. He helps me babysit them and other kids from church on Sunday nights, and these girls are very fond of him.

Me: Sorry, I don't think he's available right now.
Student: why not?
Me: I think he's still at work.
Student: *gasp* he works?? Where?
Me: at an elementary school.
Student: WHAT? He's a teacher?!
Me: kinda.. not exactly. He's a student teacher. An intern. (I then proceeded to explain what a student teacher is)

*long pause*

Student: so... you're telling me, he goes to school everyday, and teaches kids all day long, and does all the work that teachers do, but instead of getting paid, he has to pay?
Me: yes.
Student: *gives me a horrified, incredulous look* I gotta pay him!
Me: Oh, no I don't think he'd want you to spend your money...
Student: I'LL GIVE HIM ALL MY MONEY
Me: erm.. that's very sweet but...
Student's sister: Don't worry Miss Hallie. She's got a lot of money. She has like $60!
