I'd rather work out with a friend than alone. That way we can encourage and motivate each other.

I have started a program of food substitutions for life, designed by the University of Maryland, and I started a program called gettin fit for the master.
I now work out at the gym and walk more. I feel much better, lost 50 pounds, doin it slow and the right way. It has been a year and I have not gained
any back.

I try to eat as much protein/low fat as possible since I know I don't slow down and eat regularly as I should. Helps me not to crash and burn. :)

If you all really want to loose some lbs, try keto-diet...basically you switch your engery production from carbs to the fat storage in your body, works great for the most serious about dieting.

I would if I didn't have bad kidneys. I can't really do any high protein diet. What I should be doing is sticking with high fiber, low glycemic carbs, but I like starchy carbs too much.

Protein does help slow the breakdown of carbs and prevent spikes in blood sugar.

I believe it's very important to look after your body but in saying so there is a fine line between caring for your body and becoming self centered!! You have to be very careful with regards to this. I have seen it happen to so many people.

You are so right. I had that problem for a few years when I was younger. It really boosts a guy's ego when he catches women looking at him wherever he goes. One woman even lowered her sunglasses at me as I walked by her in a mall. Now women just stare at my gut and shake their heads lol.
