From a devotional book I'm reading:

Happy endings are everywhere in books and TV( shows and movies). Romantic comedies end with couples realizing they were meant for each other and sharing a big kiss. Sitcoms end when misunderstandings are figured out. Action movies end with the bad guy finally getting punished. So what makes us crave happy endings? Well, obviously because we wish real life was like that. But I also think it's because happy endings point to the perfect ending of living forever with God in heaven.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After reading the above I decided to ask my friends the same question in the above paragragh: Why do we crave happy endings?

I enjoyed some really good convo's from my friends and people at my church from asking them that question. So I decided to come on here and ask the same. So go ahead, let's discuss why we crave happy endings in real life!:D

I guess people want happy endings because after a any negative or bad situation, it's that last thing which will make you feel better and put happiness in your heart. No-one likes being sad for too long

Thanks for the reply, Meld!

I think we sometimes never think about happy endings when going through bad times. " When you can't see the full picture, it's easy to miss the hope. All we see is the really bad news of right now."

"For I know the plans I have for you, declared the Lord, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29: 10

I think it was CS Lewis who stated that our need for better days proves their existence. I think this is true. I also think that the more widely celebrated forms of literature are those that conform closely to that actual outcome. Lord of the Rings.
