Why do you need a single man for this? You would be better off finding an older woman to mentor you. Sounds like you're looking for a husband, rather.

Yes. Cultural thing I have observed. Like my friend, Isaac, from Nigeria... instead of saying he needs a truck for work, he will be more descriptive of what he actually wants by saying, "I need something that will get me to work and be useful in what I do." Like in this case, she is not just seeking a husband... but one with specific qualities.

I once was picked on by a group from Uganda because I asked if a picture was of Lake Victoria. They laughed and when I looked again, I realized that a closer look would have showed me that it was not a picture of big lake... but the ocean. A very detail-oriented people. It is interesting and rather catchy after you hang around with them a bit. I can't wait to go to Africa. :)

As a single woman, according to her profile, she may have women that are mentors in her life already but the Bible does commend men to be leaders. Could it be that she simply is being careful not to cause strife in the relationship of a married man by asking specifically for a single man?

Conclusions are good, jumping to them usually is not.

Matthew 7
7 Judge not, that ye be not judged.
[SUP]2 [/SUP]For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
[SUP]3 [/SUP]And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
[SUP]4 [/SUP]Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
[SUP]5 [/SUP]Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

Thought I should post the entire scripture on that. The reason is that many misunderstand by hearing only the first verse that we are not to judge at all (which is impossible by the way). There is a right way to judge and wrong way to judge as explicitly shown in scripture. As in this scripture it tells us not judge on things that we are not ourselves prepared to be judged upon (or likewise guilty of). Instead, we are to correct ourselves in that area first before trying to help bring correction to our brothers and sisters. That is what it means by judge not lest you be judged.

I am not directly correcting you, Paul, and am not saying you did wrong. I am only posting the rest of the scriptures on this because I have seen many fall to error when only hearing that first verse. I hope that is understood.

I do think it would be good to be kinder to/patient with non-troll newbies. After all, we are children of God and patience (forbearance)/kindness ARE fruits of the Spirit, aren't they? :)

Galatians 5:
22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR POST, MARKUM :D

Are you bound to a wife? Do not seek to be released. Are you released from a wife? Do not seek a wife. 1 Corinthians 7:27

Because this is a pretty common tactic on this site i've seen more than a few times with women seeking out a relationship and marriage.
