How to make threads go away.

1. Stop posting in it. Don't even post to say it needs to go away.
2. Request the thread be closed. Provide an actual, decent reason.
3. If you find someone has brought back a thread that's very old and hasn't been seen in a long time (within the past 48 hours I have seen two threads from 2009 be brought back), report the post that brought it back.

Is this really against the rules? Worthy of a report?
I've never understood why. Just because a discussion is old, doesn't mean it's not valid or relevant.

And yes, we all know that necroposting kills kittens. But really... don't we have enough kittens in the world? :D

I don't have a problem at all with the revival of old threads. I enjoy reading them actually. :) It seems like a wierd thing to report.

What makes my eyes twitch is when folks don't bother to read more than the OP and.keep.posting.the.same.answers.for.1000.more.pages or threads where people start doing the "who can be most annoying for the longest period of time because that's who reeeeeeeeeeeeally wins" thing and aren't even trying to make legit points regarding the original topic. :)

There is nothing wrong with reviving old threads, although when the most recent post is from 3 yrs ago, and obviously the OP's situation in life will have changed it does seem pointless. Sometimes I wonder how bored someone had to be to read through 3 years worth of threads to find it though.
