I hear so many people are saying this all the time-I live for God. Blah blah...

But what it means to live for God? What does it mean to you? Is it only about reading your Bible and praying? Is it about making the right choices in life?

I see so many people saying I live for God-but they do nothing to help others. They don't do important things. It is easy to quote the Bible and say Amen or Hallelujah... But what about other things-helping others, fighting for the good things? I'm so sick of passive christians (including myself). I'm not satisfied. I long to make a difference (even just a little one) in this world. But to be honest-I have no idea where to start...

I just try and be a good person.

I look at myself as nobody important I am nothing special.

I just speak what I think. Maybe something I say will help someone.

I try to make it mean everything to me. I try to express my faith in all areas of my life. I don't succeed all of the time though, probaly most of the times I fail. I, as you, am sick of passive Christians. I'm sick of myself when I'm acting as a passive Christian. Jesus came to give us spiritual bread, he gave us eternal life and nothing can match that gift, but he also fed the stomach of his followers. He multiplied the bread and the fish, and he also healed the sick. I wanna do that.

I've tried to at least make an impact in my workplace by talking graciously and being a good listener. I still feel like I'm not doing enough though. I'm waiting to save some money so that I can support Christian organizations where they help those in need or even also go to areas in need myself and share God's Word and Love. There's so much to do...

As always I want to add something. Most of all->he gaves us brains, arms and legs. :) Even if you are not super-talented (ppl tend to use this as an excuse-I have no talents. I don't know what can I do to help others)->you still have arms and legs. Use them.

Course people have to know what to do with those arms and legs to help.

Cause you have arms and legs can you build me a car?

In order to be able to build a car someone has to teach you how. maybe a lot of people need someone to show them how to help.

Brother, if you will think like that about yourself-no doubts you will do nothing.

I hope that (at least) speaking your mind will help someone.

No one is asking you to build a car. Sure-I can't build a car-but I can do many other things-look after someone's child while they rest, help with groceries, clean up. Should I continue to count things that I can do with my arms and legs?

Haha I know what you mean. You don't need super powers to go and feed the poor or help out a neighbor in need. Not that it's something I do every weekend, actually I haven't really done much in that aspect, but it's something we all can do. I'm frustrated with myself right now because I wanna do some many things but I haven't started.

(I think you missed on what I was saying about building a car)

A lot of people don't know what they are good at and can do well. Just cause you may be able to watch someones kid don't mean I can as well. it takes someone with a bit of an ability to do that. an ability I do not have.

You say people don't do Important things. Whats important? If I ask 50 people whats important. I could have 50 diferent answers.

To help others-in any way I can-is important for me (if you want to know my answer). And I'm sure there is somethng you can do to help others (just as the way you help yourself every-day).

Anyway, I'm not here to argue or to proove somethng. If you think you can't help others-let it be so. But I'm not satisfied with that kinda thinking-in my life.

thank you for your kind words.
yw! :)

the thing is...it may be that the Lord uses us often, in ways we never know.
your posts here have blessed me, and I'm sure I'm not alone.

we don't know if that kind smile we give someone in public makes their day.
or being patient, and joking with a fellow 'line waiter' at the checkout helps those around us.
or being joyful at the hospital whilst waiting during a crisis.
or returning to the store because the cashier forgot to charge you for an item...

those kinds of things, I've found, cause people to ask me why I have that attitude.
'course, that's not specifically why we do them. that's the fruit of the Spirit--the work of our God. :)
but it does prove to be a good conversation starter, sometimes.

love,
ellie

im not trying to argue or anything so don't take all this the wrong way.

as for what I do to help people like I said I use my words cause thats what I am best at. people ether take the advice I give or don't as they say you can lead a horse to water, but yet you can not make him drink.

Its funny how many Christians say 'when i get enough money, then i'll be able to do Gods work'. 'Then i can give to church, charities, feed the poor, etc etc...' If i remember correctly Jesus didn't even have a bed and changed the world. Paul didn't even carry food or other supplies with him, he just went and preached where God led and trusted God to provide for him, he didn't need to get a savings, or win the lottery before being able to minister. He grabbed his shoes, tunic and went out into the world with the only thing in his wallet was his faith.

I think you need to re-evaluate your view of yourself, I have seen several of your posts where you say you are nothing special. You are wrong. You are special, special to God. He sent his SON to die for YOU! I think that calling yourself nothing special is an insult to what God has done for you! So STOP! You are a child of God and that is pretty darn spectacular!

I am sorry if this sounds harsh but I truly think you need to see yourself as more than just any other person.

And if children, then heirs (namely, heirs of God and also fellow heirs with Christ)--if indeed we suffer with him so we may also be glorified with him (Romans 8:17).

Just to add to Ugly's response, if you look at all the people in the bible in general that made a huge impact on the earth, the only common denominator was God. God was the sole focus and purpose for their lives. Even looking more recent, not much else has changed. Our world is greatly impacted by those living for God. Seek God as if seeking after something of high value, and almost unattainable, and God will use you.
