Re: "I Remember When __________" (fill in the blank with something from the past..)
I remember when people were weird... and it was AWESOME! We accepted each other as uniquely different and REAL! When I was going to school, it wasn't a fashion show. Hairstyles, clothes, faces, teeth, body shapes were all different, nobody trying to conform, there was no "one size fits all" cookie-cutter pattern.
All you have to do is watch old movies from the 70’s to see how it was ok for people to be different and imperfect back then. Teeth were crooked, clothes were ill-fitting, skin was blemished, hair was frizzy. Now digitally enhanced ultra-hi def images fool us into thinking people are supposed to be physically perfect and have no flaws. Fake bodies, fake teeth, fake hair, photo shop, makeup and lights, brand name shoes, clothes & jewelry all try to brainwash us into thinking people are supposed to be like uniform androids.
And best of all, I remember when nobody was on their phone 24/7. You had to reach out for friendships and actually physically do something to have fun. We had to speak, not type, to communicate. Now it's like people are treated like cattle, the internet tries to cattle-prod us into what to think and what to post. And God forbid you be different and not agree with popular opinion. The virtual cyber world keeps everyone locked behind a screen and prevents us from opening up our eyes to the real world and being who we really want to be.
