Recently, in one of the posts, someone shared how she felt going to community college made her feel like a failure and stupid. I wonder if other's have this feeling as well? Going to a community college should never make you feel stupid, simply because it's not an Ivy League college.

I went to community college, and in no way did it make me look dumb. In fact, it was actually a wise move. When I couldn't go to a regular university, because of lack of funds, I went to the CC, because it was affordable.

Now, look at this list of people who is the Community College/Junior College club:

Walt Disney

Gwendolyn Brooks: Author and Pulitzer prize winner.

Jim Lehrer: News hour with Jim Lehrer (PBS)

Clint Eastwood: :D

George Lucas: For all you Star Wars Fans

Nolan Archibald: CEO of Black & Decker

Eileen Collins: Astronaut and 1st women to command a space shuttle

Sarah Palin

Daniel Hayes: Transplant Surgeon

As you can see, going to community college, doesn't limit your possibilities. If anything, it might give you more options.

Who else on this site wants to claim the honor of going to a junior/community college?

I went to a community college, two actually. I think it is a very smart way of getting through college. It is MUCH cheaper than a university and for the most part it's the same quality of education. my 2c.

I had to take some "remedial" courses at a community college before getting into grad school. The grad school is a prestigious private school ranked within the top 20 in the world - really.

You get out of school what you put into it. Period. Except for the marble and the private school always hitting me up for donations, I did not see much difference between the two.

And ... good work is its own reward. Don't underestimate how important even the smallest detail is when you go about your work. There was a passenger airliner crash a few years back. Crashed not because the plane was defective, the pilots inattentive, or the airport wasn't spiffy. A maintenance worker left masking tape over the pitot tubes. Now how many people would think that someone with a piece of masking tape could down an airliner?

Anyway, hope this helps.

I currently attend a community college. I was going to go to a university, but when it came down it community college was a more logical choice for me. A whole lot cheaper and I really am not sure what I want to do so it would have been a waste to go straight to a university.

*Raises hand to be counted*

Snackers spent the first few months of his life at a community college. True fact.

Wait.....THAT'S not encouraging!
