We've all heard men and women complaining about the many existing flaws of the opposite sex. It's true that sometimes these complaints are valid, but does mere whining actually do any good? We can get caught up in an endless cycle of pointing fingers, or we could choose to edify one another and to express thanks to the God that created BOTH men and women and made us all different and unique.

This is a place to give thanks for the opposite sex. Examples include:

Thanking God for making men/women in general, and explaining why you're thankful.
Thanking God for a particular member of the opposite sex (such as your father, brother, mother, sister, etc.. or even a member here on CC!), and why.
Thanking God for certain Christ-like qualities you see in your brothers/sisters in Christ.

This is not meant to put one another on a pedestal, but rather to give thanks to our Creator, and to edify and encourage our brothers and sisters in Christ. One of the things that delights The Enemy the most is to see sons and daughters of God spewing hatred towards one another and forgetting to love one another. I would be honored to have you join me in combating some of that hatred.

Humor is welcome, but negativity is not. I know I can't control what anyone posts, but please, for the love of all that is good, if anyone posts anything about how men/women are horrible because of [insert reason], just ignore it. There are plenty of other threads where discussions like that are already taking place.

"I thank my God every time I remember you" - Philippians 1:3

I'll start :D

- I thank God for my father. He leads not by words, but by example, and the few times he does speak, there is great wisdom that comes from a heart that is full of Christ, as well as from many decades of enjoying God's Word. He has a quiet, humble strength, and has always pointed me to Christ. I know I would be extremely lucky to find and marry a man who loves the Lord and leads with humility the way my father does. :)

- I thank God for my many brothers in Christ who are actively pursuing a deeper relationship with the Lord. It's an incredible sight to see, and I am blessed because I know God is glorified in the process.

- Servantstrike, I know I haven't really talked to you much, but after observing your posts for some time now, I am blown away by your heartfelt desire to edify and encourage your brothers in Christ. I thank God for you!

I'm thankful for my father who has put his 4 daughters and his son as his priorities in life. He treats our mother always with honor and respect and loves all of us sacrificially. He works hard to provide the best, teaches at church, and helps the needy. When X walked out, he picked up the slack by welcoming me and my son of then 8 years back home. He has helped us financially innumerable times and comes to visit whenever we need. My dad is my hero.

My son is awesome, funny, creative, sweet, and incredibly literal. He is the reason I keep get up and keep fighting every day. He is my inspiration and the person I love most in the world.

My Uncle Todd an my brother-in-law James have been positive male influences in my son's life. He has never known what a healthy father-son relationship looks like, but these two men of God have stepped in to show him special attention and to firmly nudge him back on the right path. Not to mention that they are wonderful husbands to my aunt and sister. Their help has been God-sent.

My pastor is the most brilliant theological mind I have ever met and one of the few preachers I have met who don't belittle a woman's grasp of scripture. His theology classes and weekly sermons speak to me on a depth that few can comprehend. He is my mentor.

Is it ... sad that I've nothing to be thankful for? :(

:(

sigh ... I'm sorry. It's just that I've noticed nothing but bad examples ever since I've been saved. I'm starting to become convinced that a majority of women (a large majority) that profess salvation really don't get it; they deceive very slyly and go with what makes their feelings feel propitiated, and so they "come to Christ". Again, I'm sorry, but this is what the behavior of Christian women is convincing me to believe.

Well, no ... There is this one girl ....

Yes! I'm thankful for this certain girl! :) She attended church faithfully, would dress like a lady and very modestly by choice (even if her church didn't teach women to follow what the Bible says on apparel) and she was always very sweet and kind. We never really talked, and we didn't share the same interests, but I really respected her in what little time I had with her.

She's married now. Proposed to at the "altar" of her church. I know that she's an amazing, meek, submissive, and loving wife and mother.

I am thankful for my Father who continues to show me God is first in all things :)
he also has taught me true unconditional love by example

Without him I would be lost to sin
With him I know my lifeis devoted to Christ :D

I am grateful and thankful for my Grandfather who shows me how to laugh :D mostly at myself ;)
he also taught me to fish

These two extraordinary men in my life have both lived in the love of Christ and have continually been in service to God :) while the whole time raising children and loving only one woman
my Dad married my Mom and says it is his gratest momment on this earth
and Grandpa he's loved the same Grandma for over fifty years now

I almost feel guilty having them both when so many girls in this world have no positive influences
They are why I know how to dress properly :) how to do missionary work or any work without recieving credit :D they showed me Christ from the time I was born

I thank God for a guy named Philip. We went to college together. He encouraged the people around him to be better, but without being bossy or self-righteous. He helped others. He was always polite, and I never once heard him say anything crude or rude. He was also HILARIOUS! He once had me laughing so hard I was crying, right in the middle of class.

I am thankful for my dad. He's a fantastic father. He is a pastor, and I love listening to him preach. He is also a good singer and I like when we sing together. He's hilarious, fun-loving, kind, caring, deeply loves God, loves people, shows me how a husband should treat his wife (my mom, who I also adore), and treats his children well, with loving discipline. When he cries...man that just kills my heart.

I am thankful for my brother. He struggles with many things and I know sometimes he doesn't know his worth, but I care deeply for him. We can relate well to each other, which is funny because when we were younger, we fought like cats and dogs. A lot of my music taste comes from him. :D

I am thankful for many of the male CC members here. I won't list names, because there's quite a few and I'm afraid I'd leave one out, but if you've been here for a while (or even if not) you probably know the ones I'm thinking of because you've seen it yourself. Honestly, there have been a few times in my life where I experienced terrible examples of "men", but God has placed males in my life and here on CC that show me that God-fearing, Spirit filled men are real and trustworthy.

Finally, I am thankful for men and their ability to open jars and lift things that I can't. ;)

I'm thankful for my pastors. I have my two church pastors, and then my two youth pastors. They're all wonderful and I thank God that they've been there to help guide and teach.

People don't get kicked out of the Singles forum once they're in a relationship. Anyone can post here, it's just that it's aimed at singles. ;)

I am so thankful for my Uncle Zane.
He has to be in the worst situation ever, but he nevr complains. He always uplifts and encourages those who do. He's th best father to my cousins and the best to my grandma.

I am thankful for my Uncle Dustin.
He's th only person that would pick me up when I was a kid (I don't blame others I was a chubby child). And though he can b a lota lota trouble, he's my uncle and I lov him.

I am thankful for my cousins.
Though they r pretty weird and can b awkward, that's probably what helps them b humorous! Their also fun and talented, and make evry family gathering exciting. (It can get pretty crazy putting all th Padgett's together!)

I am thankful for my little brothers.
They're all so different and that's what makes them each so awesome. My oldest brother has to b th funniest person alive (he can do impressions of evrybody)! He also is so helpful and giving. My middle brother is a champion of any and every game (intense game playing, yea!), plus doesn't get grossed out about anything (picks up my cat's nasty fur balls, yuck!). My youngest is young so I can play board games, teach him some fun crafts, etc. , and just be youthful! Lov my little bro bros

no lol. Being unmarried is called being unmarried. While it is true that an unmarried person may be single, not all unmarried people are as they have boyfriends/girlfriends which no longer makes you single but it does not make you married. There is a difference.

Didn't mean that she should be kicked out, but I was just curious why someone in a relationship was posting in a forum of and for and with people that are alone. That is all.

Nothing more and nothing less.

No strings attached.

Nothing to assume or imply.

Just, ... that's it. That's all I wanted to know.

I'm sorry, but I don't really believe it works that way.

If and when I have my girlfriend, I would never want her to say that she was unavailable but single. Oh man that would make me feel so low. I'd be like (in the words of a Blimey Cow character): THIS IS OVER! lol

There are several married people who are a part of the community here as well, and no one cares, except the newbies who are all offended that someone un-single is in Singles. The veteran community doesn't care, and the forum has admin coming out of its ears who don't feel it's an issue...so really, it's a moot point.

Probably for the same reason why single people hang out with people who are in relationships in real life, i.e. friendship. :)

actually I try an avoid people in relationships in real life. last thing I want is a constant reminder of something I could never get.
