I wish I could be more like my dog. :)

If I hurt his feelings, he is still excited to see me and loves me as if nothing happened.

If I leave him alone for long periods of time, he is still excited to see me and loves me as if nothing happened.

If I get tired, grumpy or impatient with him, he is still excited to see me and loves me as if nothing happened.

Even if he becomes frustrated or impatient with me, he is still excited to see me and loves me as if nothing happened.

Thanks for the lessons they teach us, Lord :)

Its easy to love pets that way because we dont have to be humble and repent of our behaviour, seek forgiveness and make restitution for our sinning against them. We don't feel guilty if we come home grumpy and shout at the dog. They can't quote the bible in order to convict us. Maybe they reveal more about us than about themselves...

My sister and her husband have always had at least 2 dogs, since they've been married. One Christmas my mom bought my brother-in-law a pillow with the following message on it: My goal is to become the person my dog thinks I am He loved it!

Pets can convict us just fine without being able to quote scripture :) That's how this thread came about. Young children can do the very same with their innocent-minded behaviors - how they think so very purely and lovingly for the MOST part. :) "of such is the kingdom of heaven"

I would like to react more like this toward others when they behave as I do sometimes :)

I can come home from work exhausted, mentally and physically, and in my grumpiness, just want to be alone and quiet. But my dog will come running to me as soon as I get there, overjoyed to see me and looking at me like I'm the most awesome thing on the planet. :) And I can't help it, I have to smile and my whole attitude changes. If I could behave as lovingly and forgivingly toward others, I wonder what effect it might have on them if an animal can have this effect upon me.

Absolutely, ButterflyPrincess. :)

It just hit me yesterday...how can I even be close to loving and living like Jesus, when I can't even love/forgive/react as well as my dog at times...

I want to be like my cat. Good at being happy and relaxed in all kinds of situations, but prepared to go into action mode at any necessary moment. :p

I am too solitary to be like a dog. :)
