ROMANS 1 - 18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.
21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.
24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.
26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.
28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. 32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.

The scriptures tell us that we all came from the line of Adam..on down through Noah.. Not once, but TWICE, EVERYONE in our family line knew God. Man is without excuse. Somewhere along the line some chose not to share this knowledge with their descendants and the fade began again. Ears closed. Hearts hardened. Eyes looked upon the things they craved and nothing was forbidden.

I think about the changes I have seen in my life alone. When I was a child, it was not socially acceptable to live in sin. Now, no one bats an eye.

Gossip? Slander? They fill our checkout stands with magazines full of it. Do you have any of them in your home?

Lying? Cheating? It's all part of the everyday business world, right???

Fornication? How many people graduate high school as virgins? According to "the rules" of the world, it's okay to sleep with someone as long as you wait until date #3.

Adultery? Have you seen the stats? I have heard people bragging about this in the workplace my entire adult life. Some even plan it out from the beginning: "She'll do for a FIRST wife."

Homosexuality? "But why should we discourage people from LOVING one another?" When did the Creator's definition of love become so very corrupted... Now those the scriptures say can't even be part of the Kingdom (see the I Cor passage below) want to be united in holy matrimony? How can THAT work??? And how did a sin qualify as a minority? Will the adulterers, pedophiles and necrophiliacs be the next minorities?

What's next? How long will it be before one of our leaders stands up and says that he has talked it over with his family and they believe that incest is okay, as long as they are "consenting adults who really love one another"???? Will people sit up and pay attention THEN??? Will we pass legislation permitting them to marry too??

This was NOT written out of hate, except for hate of sin. It was written out of the love I have for all and the fear of so many being lost for all eternity. It's not too late to turn our hearts, minds, families, and children back to Him.

It's not too late. According to the scriptures, there is still hope:

I Cor 9-11 - 9 Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

2 Cor 6:17 - "Therefore come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you."

It's a slow fade when you give yourself away
It's a slow fade when black and white have turned to gray
Thoughts invade, choices are made, a price will be paid
When you give yourself away
People never crumble in a day
Daddies never crumble in a day
Families never crumble in a day

Oh be careful little eyes what see
Oh be careful little eyes what you see
For the Father up above is looking down in love
Oh be careful little eyes what you see...

Great word Julianna.

I, too, have noticed the changes you have mentioned. One of the biggest changes being how the gospel was presented in the past compared to how it is presented now.

I was raised to believe that just as Jesus laid down His life so that we might freely receive salvation, we too must be willing to lay down our lives so that others might be saved. I was taught that we are God's hands, His feet, His voice in a lost and dying world and that our sin / selfishness can and will hinder our walk with the Lord thus preventing us from fulfilling His divine purposes for our lives. Growing up both answered prayer and miracles were common place in the Church which taught me that God honors the faithfulness of His people in abundance.

However, much of what I hear being preached today is... well... I'll spare everyone the negativity. However, the Church for the most part looks and acts no different than the world as a result. We've allowed our sin and selfishness to render us spiritually powerless. Reaching the lost is becoming more and more difficult because much of the world perceives Christianity as either a bunch of hypocrites or just another spiritually dead religion no different than Islam or Buddhism.

If it breaks my heart, I can't begin to fathom how God feels about it. :(

"You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times. 2 For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. 3 They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. 4 They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. 5 They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that!

6 They are the kind who work their way into people’s homes and win the confidence of[a] vulnerable women who are burdened with the guilt of sin and controlled by various desires. 7 (Such women are forever following new teachings, but they are never able to understand the truth.) 8 These teachers oppose the truth just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses. They have depraved minds and a counterfeit faith. 9 But they won’t get away with this for long. Someday everyone will recognize what fools they are, just as with Jannes and Jambres.

True but those verses you've listed should inspire us as people of faith to live upright so that the Lord may use us to reach those who are perishing.

Gabe, I know the end times will come and what the scriptures say they will be like. A time when God can no longer bear to see all of the evil that we can't even see. But I also know that God doesn't want us sitting back in recliners, sipping drinks and watching the world go to hell in a basket on the evening news. We are called to stand in the gap, to intercede, to share His love and the gospel of truth and peace. How many times did we see others do the same throughout the history of the Bible? And God heard their cries, and was merciful and healed them.

I hope that the people who read this do not see this as a post of self-righteousness. I want them to know that I speak as a part of the Kingdom of God by the grace, mercy, blood and righteousness of Christ alone, as they can ...if they will only come.

This post has been heavily on my heart for two days. I had to let it out.

At times when I compare the world as we know it to the world I grew up in, I can only cry out, "Lord, come quickly."

Morality even in the church has been on a greased pole for over a generation and it has reached a point where men no longer tolerate sound doctrine, as was prophesied. We see "mainstream" churches bragging about their "tolerance" of gross immorality, the very thing that Paul blasted the Corinthian church for. I firmly believe that it is just a matter of time before the church will be silenced on major moral issues with our governments labeling it as "hate speech" and criminalizing it. It's already been done in several western nations.

As I've been typing this the only thing that came to mind is, the church what part of it that has not become apostate, for the most part is asleep in their communities. Which brought to mind an old Keith Green song. asleep in the light - YouTube

Asleep In The Light Lyrics

Performed by Keith Green

Do you see, do you see
All the people sinking down
Don't you care, don't you care
Are you gonna let them drown

How can you be so numb
Not to care if they come
You close your eyes
And pretend the job's done

"Oh bless me Lord, bless me Lord"
You know it's all I ever hear
No one aches, no one hurts
No one even sheds one tear

But He cries, He weeps, He bleeds
And He cares for your needs
And you just lay back
And keep soaking it in,
Oh, can't you see it's such a sin?

Cause He brings people to your door,
And you turn them away
As you smile and say,
"God bless you, be at peace"
And all heaven just weeps
Cause Jesus came to your door
You've left him out on the streets

Open up open up
And give yourself away
You see the need, you hear the cries
So how can you delay

God's calling and you're the one
But like Jonah you run
He's told you to speak
But you keep holding it in,
Oh can't you see it's such a sin?

The world is sleeping in the dark
That the church just can't fight
Cause it's asleep in the light
How can you be so dead
When you've been so well fed
Jesus rose from the grave
And you, you can't even get out of bed

Oh, Jesus rose from the dead
Come on, get out of your bed

How can you be so numb
Not to care if they come
You close your eyes
And pretend the job's done
You close your eyes
And pretend the job's done

Feel ya....the way this world is going more and more wicked is deppresing, even among Christians, which is even more deppresing. I hate the way the world avoids the word sin, the world looooooooooooves to take advantage of sin, loves to have fun with it, but when that sin hurts someone it isn't fun anymore is it? Especially if the person who gets hurt is yourself.

Today I was with my parents and they were talking to a friend of theirs, and the friend was talking about a man who had a wife and apparently was seeing another woman. The friend was laughing and said that the man ''just loved women too much''. That's a beautiful way to call an adulterer huh? someone who loves TOO much . Yeah right! I wonder if he would laugh if his wife ''just loved men too much'' too..

The only thing that unites the world is this: SIN. Since we all love sin , let's all get together'' in love'' and protect our sin, which would be homosexuality nowadays, and then call it an act of love. Oh, but dare to throw the word sin out there and you will be called an ignorant and a biggot, dare to say you won't do something that's wrong you will be called judgemental. Sin is what gets people together in this society, not love, unless you're talking about a love for sin.

Oh Lord, give us wisdom to walk in this world....we need You.

No, not stressing out about the way it is. My heart is troubled because only those who love the Lord seem to care about it or be able to see it for what it is, you know? SIN....people becoming like the animals, not knowing good from evil...depravity.

And I'm wondering where the Church is and why it is being so silent....

Great thread!

I hope that each person reading this is not just sitting back saying "Yeah, yeah people are so bad now, etc. etc." . I think it's important that we look into our own hearts and minds. I know those verses hit me on a personal level. It's really easy to get lazy in our walk and slip to places we wish we'd never gone. We have to be watchful, or we'll end up right there with those people we're sneering at. I suppose, in a sense, we already are..as we are all sinners. Of course we can't use that as an excuse to fail and sit back and get content with how bad things are.

We really can't expect those who are not God's to follow His principles. Of course they're going to allow and even support things not of God. I don't marvel at that. What we can do though, is try to be a light in the world and hope and pray they come to the truth.

Matthew 5:14-17

New International Version (NIV)

14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

You know what's uber-neat about this thread? So often I see 1 Corinthians 6:9 and 10 being quoted, without verse 11... Verse 11 is so awesome and full of hope, it made my day that you included it. It's always been my favorite verse on my profile. Even though it seems wrong to pick a "favorite".

niceguyj: I absolutely agree. It's a very slippery slope and the slide begins with seemingly small things that all of us face on a daily basis and can have its teeth in us before we know it. It happens on an individual basis daily and it's happening to our society as a whole as well.

I pray that NO ONE is sneering or snickering, because to me it's heartbreaking.

Popclick: That one verse makes ALL the difference, doesn't it? To me it says but for the grace of God, there am I. No matter where anyone reading this may find themselves, there is hope. There is grace. There is mercy. There is love.

I'm hoping that this thread will ignite a passion in Christians for the lost and to pray for/speak to/protect their families, friends, community and country, and will speak to unbelievers as a warning of the path they are on...and to share the good news with them that Jesus is willing to meet them wherever they are on that path.

There's still time to change your mind, to make your choice, the Son's not come (yet) and you're still here in time. You've, my friend, still got time, to see your life forever Mine. But time's one day going to be all died, your life will go without Me drawn to you nigh and you'll be left behind. :(

The government here (the prime minister in particular) announced just a few days ago there will be a study or discussion on whether to allow same sex couples to legally marry. They can currently have a civil union but it's not quite the same as mrriage. Seems to be one of the things going on in western world at the moment.

Well, porneia invaded the world like never before. hum that is one kingdom rising. Rebellion is taking over the world and even churches. hummm. then I see a great sin, the worship ofsatan.... accompanied by destruction. so what is there to say? May God guide us and be our strenght as the world is witnessing the rise of the beast. practically No one wants to hear the truth nor consider a rebuke ... To be right and rightheous in our own eyes is erronous. God declares justs. So we preach the cross and witness Jesus. But the rise of violence comes too as sodomites are murderers. So be grateful to the Lord for is Grace unto you for apostasy is not a pretty sight and very sad. Sin brings blindness. mmakes stupid and keeps ignorant. To help them is to tell them two things, first they were not taught properly and what inhabits them is evil by nature. By using the name of Jesus christ over them will usually make them realise when the demon surface, some people will then cry to Jesus for help, others will cherrish their demons.
