Why do we do the gender bashing thing rather than just appreciate the "beautiful flaws" in one another? They make me smile. :) It's not a competition. We have fun with it, but it can turn downright mean, huh? I hate it when that happens.

But then...you know...men started it ;)

Well, because these are the things that cause us confusion, conflict, frustration, etc and we are actively seeking ways to understand. And by understanding we hope to achieve an acceptance and patience for it, thereby making it easier for us to relate to the opposite gender.
Of course there are always the minority in any group discussion that shows their bitterness or anger towards the opposite gender because of past hurts. But it seems to me that mostly people just want to understand so they can improve their relationships, present, and future.
I know for me, that's often what i'm seeking. I've put a few gender based posts because i may find something frustrating and want to get answers that help me not feel so frustrated. Its just like any other discussion, you have to keep your feelings and emotions in check to make sure you keep the conversation cordial, and approach with a willingness to hear, learn and listen and not just to accuse and attack.

First, let me correct your history of gender bashing Julianna. It all actually started with a southern belle and a slight misunderstanding. This southern beauty said, "Men are all I like," and a man near her thought she said "Men are all alike" and the battle was on. If this young lady had just properly enunciated her words we wouldn't be in this mess. ;)

I think that most gender bashing comes from those who are wounded and project their damaged view onto everyone of the opposite gender. Sure, men and women are different just like a truck and a car are different, they were designed differently for different purposes. Neither design is bad unless you try to use it for something it wasn't designed for.

I think all of us at times can make blanket statements that can be interpreted by some to be bashing which is why, especially here, I try to clarify any statements that are broad generalizations.

I thank God for the differences between us, even though they can be confusing, and even frustrating at times. Life would be pretty boring if we were identical.

God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill? Numbers 23:19

God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth. John 4:24

Touché! :D

PS. I know what you mean though :)

I used to do gender bashing a lot when I wasn't Christian...I had guy friends of course and I wasn't rude with them..but my perception of men was very twisted. I didn't trust me, because I had been hurt by men (which isn't really an excuse) and I didn't like what I saw in a lot of men in my life. Now I'm glad that through the Word that perception changed and I can see ''the beautiful flaws'' you are talking about :). I'm glad we are different...a man of God is a piece of art.
