Closed-Face Sandwiches, ranked. (Yes, I'm stealing Foodspin's gimmick.)

(Fast-food chain offerings excluded)

1. Reuben
2. Cheesesteak with bacon
3. Grilled cheese (bacon, smoked gouda on wheat)
4. BLTC (Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato, Hatch green chile)
5. Hard Salami, provolone (or smoked gouda), spicy mustard on multigrain
6. Monte Cristo (a deep-fried one, not the sham French-toast imitation)
7. The PBJ 2.0, pictured below (yes, you can add bacon; don't ask stupid questions)
8. Bahn Mi (basically, pulled pork to the Nth level)
9. Pulled pork (basic level is still awesome)
10. Cold meatloaf, spicy ketchup
11. Anything pastrami
12. Po'boy (any seafood offering that not fried oysters)
13. Cuban
14. Tuna salad
15. Egg salad
16. Air
17. Plain bologna on white
18. Being hit by a car
19. Muffaletta

(hopefully this iPad posts pictures correctly)

Creamy peanut butter is better replaced by either cashew butter or almond butter.

Believe it or not, one somebody introduced me to many years ago was whole wheat bread, peanut butter, lettuce and miracle whip.

And then you punched that somebody in the face, right?

I don't like someone else making my sammich either. I worked at Subway as a teenager, so I'm a little particular about how my sammich is treated.

I made myself one the other day which was delish: Whole wheat bread, thin layer of mayo and mustard, bacon, avacado, onion and pickle. The only way it would've been better is if it had lettuce and tomato on it :)

I'm now in mood for a grilled cheese with tomato soup.

I thought #17 was a general term for anything you get from McDonald's, in which case I have been hit by a car far too many times lol. Then I remembered that fast-food chain offerings are excluded, so I guess I'm lucky.

I didn't realize Monte Cristos are supposed to be deep-fried. Gonna have to have a talk with my local restaurant about that...

My Sandwich:

* Pixie dust coated beard roll
* With unicorn tears sauce
* Titan's sea lettuce freshly plucked from a mermaid's garden
* Moon cheese
* Softly imploded exploded Gruffalo steak
* Some thin slices of the Forbidden Fruit found on the tree of Awesome and more Awesome, some where on the North pole

..
.....

LOL, joke, I'm on a low-carb diet.

Oh, my friend...how you have been deceived! The truest of Monte Cristos is a sandwich that is wholly assembled, THEN battered AS THE WHOLE SANDWICH...and deep fried!

Oh, Bennigan's...how you are missed. This menu item (and their French onion soup) might have been the only thing that kept them in business for that last year or so...

My favorite sandwich is a triple decker sandwich made up of.........

1. Whole wheat bread
2. Mozarella cheese
3. Mortadella
4. Oven-roasted turkey breast
5. I top it off with my favorite lunch meat - smoked pepper ham!!!

DELICIOSO (that's Italian for "YUMMY").

We never had Bennigan's anywhere near here, but! When I lived in NC, I was taken to that restaurant and introduced to the Monte Cristo, and forced-FORCED- to eat it with the raspberry sauce...stuff...deliciousness.

I've had two Monte Cristos in my life...the 50 lbs I gained from them was so worth it.

That's the craziest part. You're all, "Raspberry preserves WHAT?" And you go about eating the sandwich, which is already obnoxiously delicious to start, but then you get curious, and smear a bite with the raspberries...and...

Yes. And unfortunately... Once you get hooked on the heavenly fried dough and powdered sugar and raspberry preserves... You wind up looking about as fluffy at that pink pony. Except without the fluff.

(Since it's Shour posting, I am only ASSUMING it's a pink pony. I was debating on whether or not it's actually a pink sheep.)
