TV preachers, ministers, song writers, article writers, so many of them portray Jesus as if he's the ultimate adventure sherpa, who will lead you into the ultimate mountain adventures of life. Bored with the mundane aspects of everyday life? Well just let Jesus in. He'll take you to the mountain climbing store, buy you a Northface coat, and take you on an adventure you never thought you could have. Yes Jesus the ultimate sherpa who will guide you away from your oh so boring existence and lead you to adventures and scenery. He's a travel agent of sorts.

Why has Jesus been reduced to the ultimate adventure sherpa by some?

Is this about adventures or atonement?
Sherpa guide or savior?
Scenery or sanctification?
Avoidance of the mundane, or avoidance and freedom from sin?

I can't speak for anyone else, but life seems to hold enough adventure for me and I'm thankful He has been with me every step of the way.

Some people do travel to strange lands in their service of the Lord, while others serve in local mission fields. There are souls who need to hear the Word around the world AND across the street. Neither is more important than the other.

Take yourself for example. You are a quiet, unassuming man, yet you play a very large part in Christians from all around the world being able to communicate with one another. That is no small thing.

The important thing is to serve wherever we find ourselves and however He leads us, isn't it? :)

Yeah Jesus is for sure with us in all of life.
Just the packaging of Jesus as the cool tour guide gets to me.

Actually, I believe its quite the opposite. Following God is about the least glamorous adventurous thing you can do.

All of the really strong Christians I know of, that Evangelize and Volunteer, are really boring people, who lead quiet boring lives.

But they are known by their humility and their fruit.

Not that I'm against being a Missionary Tourist, but that is not what CHristianity is. So we spend 2 weeks building houses in BFE Mexico, then what.

Real Christians don't galavant off to the edge of the map to "Perform" their faith. Where they are, they simply show the Love of Christ in the world. And its not glamorous. Its like being a person who wipes butts in the old folks home. Not Glamorous, but something that certains does more for humanity than we acknowledge.

Blessed are the butt wipers for their is the Kingdom.

I agree julliana , grow where He plants us , move as He moves us , follow as He leads us ..yielding to Him are the chains that set us free! that in itself is a remarkable journey .. Loving in the Spirit produces fruit and bares seed of all kinds..

What's a Sherpa? A Google search said it was a people-group in Nepal.

Maybe someone could interpret tongues for me.
