oh, and she was noteworthy for being the only girl in my dorm who had even bigger hair than i did. mine, while natural and due to having unrepentant and stubborn curly hair... her's mostly due to a giant can of aqua net that she blow threw every couple days. i swear, it doubled as a crash helmet.

i was always certain she was going to be the cause of my developing lung cancer, and truth be told, if i ever do develop it, i might look her up. ; p

we had an 11:00 curfew on "school nights".

I am a fellow Oregonian and I am a faithful customer of Tillamook Cheese. It is so delicious that it knocks the other brands completely out of the water. Yum!

have you toured the tillamook factory yet??? it's well worth the visit. last time i went, i think i ate my weight in cheese.

okay, so what area of oregon do you hail from cmarieh??? as i mentioned, earlier, i'm in central/mid-willamette valley.

I have yet to tour the factory. It is definitely on my to do list. I have been so busy lately with work, school, and family obligations that I have been unable to find time. I am sure eating that much cheese is possible especially with Tillamook. Since this is a online site I will PM you a little more of where I am at in Oregon.

I think she may have thought she was in the streams thread. I saw one of her posts in streams, then saw it again here and had to double check which thread I was in.

But this thread is itself a joke thread so I guess there's no harm done.

i'm actually in mid/central willamette valley area. i think you posted something about a farmer's market? we have some lovely ones around here. i'm probably close enough to the coast to be among the part of the state that is supposed to fall into the pacific when the "big one" happens.

i'm also in the part of the state that is still celebrating the passing of the recreational marijuana ballot measure passing. ; p

p.s. i missed your earlier post about a pavlova, but i do know, and have even made one before. one of my girlfriends who was getting married several years ago had requested one, and i made something even martha would approve of.

believe it or not, i wasn't all that fond of it. i'm not a big meringue girl -- in fact, it was a little too sweet for me, despite the fact that i omitted part of the sugar called for in the recipe.

oh, and i'm well known for my pumpkin cheesecake around the holidays. : )

maybe my favorite dessert (or one of my favorites) is tiramisu. : ) mascarpone and ladyfingers with booze and chocolate and whipping cream? INSPIRED! : )

I don't know if you ever got my apologies for not being able to get together when we were there. I was busy from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. I wish we'd had more time. I loved Oregon and would love to move there. It was beautiful. My Brother's took us to Mount Hood and a beautiful little town around the mountain. We also took the kids to the Zoo, it was beautiful. My Brother owns a ranch in Gresham, we played with the animals and loved it. He has a great view of Mount Hood from his yard. We went to the Japanese Garden in downtown Portland with my Mom and step Dad. We went to the tea house and my Husband had some very strong Japanese wine. I really want to go back.

I live in SW Michigan and just before 1230 pm yesterday morning I was sitting in my living room and heard a rumble, then the apartment started shaking. It lasted about 10 seconds. My cat freaked out and my one daughter who had been sleeping came flying out of her room. I went through a 4.4 in So Carolina in 1992 so I knew this one was close to that. (Later it was said to be a 4.2) I went out on the porch and people were coming out and asking what was that, they had no idea. They could hardly believe it when I told them it was a quake because that doesn't happen here in Michigan. I saw on the news that there was some exterior cracks in some buildings farther east near the epicenter, and people had dishes and knick knacks rattling around in their homes.

You hear about things happening in other places and are actually kind of glad it's not around you, then something like this happens and it shakes you up. I was pretty weak in the knees for awhile because as the apartment was shaking I wondered is this going to get worse any second and plaster will start falling off the walls and ceiling? Are the windows going to break?

My other daughter asked me "are we going home soon?" Praise God it wasn't worse.

You're from SW michigan too?! Yeah, if I remember correctly they said it was the biggest in michigan since 1947 I think, and that was 4.6. I remember hearing there was another one too in the early 90's that wasn't so heavy

I guess you are right. She must have been confused with the directions. This forum is not so easy to manoeuvre. We may need to consider setting up signboards. :D

You should, it is a beautiful place to go. I mean we have so many different kinds of weather and it is all so beautiful.

No no NOOOO! Then the BDF refugees would be able to get around better. They never follow the signs pointing them back to their own shouting arena, and if they had directions how to get around here they would NEVER leave.

We absolutely should do this. I have family in Salem, Lake Oswego, and Willamina (Willamina being only about an hour from Tillamook!) that I would enjoy seeing too.

If an Oregon Meetup ever comes together, please keep me posted!!! I have family in WA not very far from the border... In fact, I've been to some of the places people have mentioned here.

We'd all have a blast!!! Not to mention, terrorize the Cheese Factory... (Cheese is awesome but when I saw on the website that they have ICE CREAM, I was sold.)
