Because it's not in the bible? It's really simple. If it doesn't match with what is written by Elohim then it should not be done.
Courtship to an extent is mentioned in the Bible. However it is very different now as to how it was back in say Genesis.
I don't think one can justify abstaining from courtship merely becasue of the perception that courtship is not mentioned in the Bible...

Ive found no proof of dating being wrong...committing fornication, yes but dating no.
Please read your bible. Does it encourage such actions?

If you are focused on the things above you would not care about having a gf or not. Renew your carnal mind.

Thanks for the replies everyone. And yes, the picture really is only a couple of years old. And your response to my picture is one of the handful of reasons that I have remained single for so long. Most people assume I am a child/teenager and having been treated as such, I have very little confidence and self esteem. However, I am pretty good at not letting that show because I know that there is nothing wrong with looking young it just makes it very hard to get the attention of females my age. Maybe I should just wait a few more years?
I get that a lot too.. I help out with the youth ministry at my church and whenever we go to youth conferences or missions trips.. im often mistaken for one of the youth LOL but now that ive turned 30 i dont mind people thinking im young...the only problem i run into are the young boys asking me out and the guys around my age thinking im too young.
it was funny the other day i went to a movie, ehm..it was rated R...I got carded! LOL my friends had a hay day with that one.
then my last boyfriend someone thought i was his yonger sister :/..So I feel your pain! lol but i've learned to laugh it off.

BTW welcome to CC lots of great people here! :)

May God help us in these dark times and open our eyes to the spiritual things and crucify the carnality.

I've never thought of dating not being biblical...
Are there any verses in the bible that refer to it at all?
If not, maybe its because most of the marriages in that time eara were arranged by their parents?
It's very thought provoking at least... ~ intersting.

hmmm... possibly Judges 14 and Ruth 3? As you say, most marriages were arranged by parents.

In Judges 14, it talks of Samson seeing a young women that he liked, then his father went to see the women and Samson sometime after made her his wife. It doesnt really say what happened in between. In Ruth 3, it talks of her mother-in-law wanting to find a home for Ruth. Then suggesting she go to lay at the feet while Boaz slept, him awaking to find her. I think that would be dangerous for any lady this day and age! I guess maybe the bible is very vague on this subject. Thank you for the readings Marcus! Anyone else know of any verses that refer to this?

In biblical times the parents chose beforehand who their children would marry. The society we live in today is different, we "date" around and find the right person for us to spend the rest of our lives with. Somehow we need to find a mate to live our lives with. All through the Bible it talks about marriage so we know thats not wrong. If we had no interests in dating or a girlfriend then the world would die out.
2 Corinthians 6:14 says "Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?
I do not believe dating is wrong, but i do believe dating someone out of faith is wrong. Dating out of faith will only put a stumbling block in your life and would be a sin against God.

I do not think that dating is unbiblical. I think that if a Christian dates other Christians, then its o.k. If I went on a date with another Christian I would want him to take me to a restaurant, coffee shop to talk and get to know each other or a walk in the park. I would not want to be taken to a casino,or wild party were people might be doing things displeasing to God.

Dating isn't unbiblical. Come back to the real world. Sex before marrage is a sin but come on here man, just think things though a little more realisticly. After the "Eden incedent" that we won't speak of gods left finding that person up to us. Sure I'd love my maker to descend on a throne of jade and fire and reef out a rib then give me a kickass girlfriend too but it just ain't going to happen that way.

Seek and ye shall find. Seek.

I hate to beat a dead horse, but even after a week I am having difficulty forgetting my experience with this thread. I come onto a christian chat site looking for genuine christian input on how to get back into dating only to find myself rebuked. I mentioned nothing about sex or physical relations of any kind. Or am I the only one who doesn't have a secularized warped view of dating? I've read many threads on this site concerning a wide range of issues some of which are quite vile, yet these people are responded to with compassion and given related scripture concerning these things (true christian responses). So tell me why am I cut down when I come here looking for guidance on dating? Next time I will think twice about confiding in people from this chat site.

Dude its because this is not a dating site. And your initial post read like you were trying to hook up with people here. It didn't really say you wanted advice. It seemed like you were looking for girls to talk to here.

Yeah it's there...right beside where it says if you can't control your lust then marry :p:rolleyes:
Seriously I agree, no where in the Bible does it say DO NOT DATE. I mean...what you just find a stranger, and marry them? so hey um....Mgates, nice to meet you, shall we go get married now?;):D

I'm totally kidding of course....you're right on though. I'm with you 100% here. God bless.

Oh I'm sorry sharp, is this not a christian singles forum?! Forgive me if I misinterpreted the intention of this forum. So what if I came here to "hook up"? Like I said, I wasn't looking for sex. I figured that my saying that I was looking to get back into dating implied that I needed advice on the matter? Please, enlighten me, how do I properly go about discussing this? I need to close this site and open my Bible...

Don't worry about it. You made it clear you weren't here for a ''hook up''. I'm here anytime you need to talk. I may not have the right words to say all the time, but I can at least listen. Don't worry about others....they misunderstood you so what, happens all the time. God bless you.

All I'm saying is that if you're looking to find a girlfriend here, that's not the purpose of this site. I didn't mean to offend you, sorry.

how are you going to get to know someone if you are not spending time with them. dating opens the door to discuss a future. you can date and not take it outside of Gods blessings.

It all depends on how you control your thoughts i guess...

You are all so young, stop worrying you will find someone special oneday.
