Starting my 4th week of being smoke free. Some days are more agonizing than others but I feel that I am about to turn a corner. Since I quit smoking my coffee consumption has decreased and that is probably a good thing. I take an occasional Niacin tablet as it is suppose to be helpful in fighting cravings. I am not sure if this is effective or not but I am sure that it is not harming me. I really need to drink more water. It will flush out the poisons.

After four weeks, how much needs to be flushed out?

This is not a rhetorical question. I have no idea about retention rates of contaminants in cigarettes. How long until you stop craving the things?

It can take months for the cravings to drop off substantially and a year or more for them to completely go away. In reality there will always be the occasional desire. My boss quit over 25 years ago and tells me that he still has an occasional desire for a smoke, but that it's usually triggered by someone lighting up around him.

I am not sure. I don't crave them all of the time but there are times that I do. It is best never to start down this path of ruin.

So proud and happy for the progress you have made and the distance you are putting between you and the smokes. Thank you and praise God.

My father has been smoking since he was a young man and now (at 70 years old) I can see it catching up to him at a rate of knots. I hate those darn things....

It is nice of you to support "the tourist"... seeing that there is a possibility you will have to share a toothbrush someday LOL

I am having some serious nicotine cravings today. I almost snapped today but thought better of it. I thought about it and decided that I did not want to start using drugs. It has been a struggle but I am now working on my second month of being smoke-free.

Today marks the end of the second month of being smoke-free. A few days ago I started my new regimen of drinking water, currently at 28 oz per day. That is a lot better than 1 or 2 oz. Lately, I haven't been sleeping very soundly at night. I probably should start working to reduce my caffeine intake. I still miss my smokes but maybe not as bad as when I first quit. I kind of ache all over lately.

Dear Father in Heaven

Continue to help keep tourist free from the smokes and give him the strength to resist any temptation that comes his way. Strengthen him in You and build his faith and trust and total dependence on You. I know You are in the character building business and salvation is the goal so help us both to totally lean on You and trust and believe in Your support and help us yield to Your refining fire in our lives....help us to be totally dependent on You.....In Jesus Name Amen.

Hi. I quit almost 12 years ago. No desire to do it ever. Jesus can take that fully away from you. Hang in there. You're doinggreat. Also the physical cravings are probably gone. It's mostly mental by now. Find something to do with all the extra energy. Paint, or draw, or write, or journal prayers for others. Find something positive... Also exercise helps. I didn't realize how much cigerettes actually sucked my energy levels until I quit cold turkey July 31 12 years ago. I had one mess up when I was heavily medicated for a spinal injury and the meds completely messed me up. But God in His graciousness woke me up and stopped the relapse immediately. Thankfully! But that was any years later. I highly recommend no matter what. Do not even take a small puff, or it's like starting quitting all over again. You're past the hardest. Part already as long as ou don't do it. I'm praying special for you tonight.

Rather than candy which is fattening, and that's a a struggle for quitters not to replace cigs with food, and gum (which most has aspertame which is ecoli sprayed with famaldhyde /sp?/) use tooth picks. Keep them handy to give your hands and mouths of ething to do. :)

Thank you for the kind words of encouragement. I commend you on overcoming your own personal struggle and for being smoke-free for all of these years. With God, nothing is impossible.

I did not see any typos. God Bless You.
