When I was a kid, I was terrified by The Skeksis in Jim Henson's The Dark Crystal.

Of course, it didn't help much that after the movie, my Dad would stand in hallways saying, in a high-pitched voice, "HHHHMMMMM," as an imitation of the baddest and most menacing Skeksis of the bunch.

These horrible creatures would roast and eat Gelflings, such our brave little heroes, Jen and Kira:

I think the part that scared me the most though is a scene in which Kira recalls the time when she was very young and the Skeksis attacked her home village.

Kira's mother puts her in a tree to hide her, and as soon as her mother lets go of her, she is snatched up by a Skeksis, never to be seen again. (Kira's father is also killed but I can't remember if they showed it or not. I know the scene with her mother, though, is burned into my memory.)

I think that was the most terrifying part to me--losing you parents, and most especially, right before your eyes.

I love The Shining. One of my favorite movies. I think it's on Netflix. I should watch it again sometime.

reminds me of something scary but weird,I watched python the bathroom scene with the python near the shower but ironically instead of thinking of a snake at my shower I was afraid to open my bathroom shower because I thought a T rex was in the shower instead, weird how movies can influence the mind lol!
Are there meds you should be taking but aren't? Or perhaps more than you should be? ;)

You're so right, Mom!!!

What a waste of resources!!!

(If you wait and let them get to be full-grown, you'll get A LOT more fur for all that trouble...) :D

Two coats for the price of one. :)

I don't watch scary movies either, at least not anymore.

I've seen a few in my teenage years and serial killers always terrified me.

Well, you WERE talking about letting me overfeed your daughter's cat in another thread... :p

(Bigger cat = larger square area of fur = boots + hat + earmuffs. :D)

I thought this was the Labyrinth movie. The one where some wizard guy steals the girl's baby brother. That was a scary movie too!

this thread should have an age limit... I think I will lock myself into the toilet to keep safe... but then.... I was thinking of Harry Potter and Myrtle and the basilisk... is it better under the blanket, Seoulsearch?

Molly,

I could be mistaken, but I think Jim Henson's Creature Shop was also involved with Labyrinth, which is why that movie has a similar look to The Dark Crystal.

I would say yes, but I would imagine Ugly would then step in the room and say, "HHHMMMM..." or some other person without any mercy will say in a menacing clown-like voice, "Everything Floats Down Here" (I saw parts of the "It" mini-series and couldn't even stomach that.)

I think I'm going to need an extra blanket.

When the monsters come to get me, I don't want to have to see them coming!
