Our sense of smell is powerfully linked to memories. Many people can distinctly recall the smell of something from an event that happened many years ago.

I have an unusual nose, evidently. I love the smell of marigold and tomato plants, but I hate the smell of most peonies. What about you guys? Any smells you remember from any events in your life? Are there any scents you like that no one else does?

Coffee reminds me of my grandmother's house at 6 in the morning. That smell is wonderful and brings back many memories. The same could go for a fireplace. However, the one smell I cannot stand because of my brain's association with it now is an Old Spice body spray. No girl likes being reminded of ex lovers from the past. LOL

I love the smell of coffee, but I don't like to drink coffee. :)
Clean babies. Brings back memories of rocking my son at all hours of the night.
Jergens lotion makes me think of my gramma.
Old Spice reminds me of my dad
White Shoulders and Chanel No 5 reminds me of my mom

I really like the smell of curry, but a lot of people hate it :)

I love: gardenias, magnolias, lily of the valley and jasmine
I don't like to smell: fried okra, turnips cooking, cooked cabbage

I hate the smell of freshly cut grass. It nauseates me.

Coffee is a wonderful smell.

A friend of mine was smoking a pipe this afternoon, and I really liked the smell.

Watermelon gum reminds me of childhood.

JimJimmers, this reminds me of a post I did a while back about smelling someone's check they sent in (after they had left of course) because there was some perfume on it that I KNEW reminded me of something, I just couldn't think of what. So I just kept smelling it to see if I could remember.

So, there are some smells that come and go that spark an almost-memory, that feeling that I know it from somewhere but it flashes too quick for me to peg it.

Cinnamon and rosemary (not together, separately) remind me of Christmas.

Campfire smoke reminds me of my childhood when my family would take camping trips each year.

Decaying leaves, down by the creek, that warm spicy scent, reminds me of fall.

Suntan lotion reminds me of summer.

Sheets hung outside to dry, that have that fresh "God dried them with the breeze" smell remind me of lazy summer days, for some reason.

I used to like the smell of gasoline. I'm odd in that I LOVE the smell of new carpet. I really don't like the "new car" smell. I also like the smell of paint and Sharpies.

i always laugh about the scented markers they sell... yeah, lets teach the kids all about inhalants!

There is a perfume that if it were to get caught up in my nasal passages again, I might find my fight or flight response set to FIGHT.

That's not surprising.
how many ways can I misinterpret your response... like numbering the stars... how many ways can I know what you really meant... just one.

Aimee, pray tell, what did you mean by that? (here, PM, or whatever)

I like the smell of skunk spray. I know that sounds weird, but I greatly prefer it to synthetic perfumes and colognes that people wear. I find those icky, but I don't mind a distant skunk smell on a breezy summer night.

I also like the smell of baby bunnies too. Their fur smells almost sweet, almost like a dandelion, or baking flour.

dislike: the sharp smell of the zinc coating releasing its carcinogens into the air as it is heated.

& a public thank you to Aimee for meaning what she said the way I had hoped she meant what she said.

If this joke hasn't been made already...

Oh come on! Be scentsible! :p hahahaha

I love the smell coffeehouses and bakeries (especially Tim Hortons). They just make me happy lol

Certain food smells, though, like pork chops, can make me feel sick.

Sometimes I like the smell of a place (like the kitchen) that has JUST been cleaned.
