Ok, I'm an engineer so conveying thoughts without the use of equations and mathematics is a bit difficult but i'll give it a whirl. There's something that has recently been brought to my attention and it has me curious. If someone were to ask you where you get your self worth from what would you say? Every Christian should know that it is ultimately Jesus, but with everyday life does it end up being Him or does it shift to earthly possessions or status?

The reason that I have been thinking about this is I've been working allot of OT recently and through a conversation with a co-worker and a dream realized my self worth isn't coming from where it should. I had/have been placing too much/all of my worth in my job, and not letting my faith shine through.

I think that if everyone who calls them self a Christian were to truly understand where their self worth comes from the world would truly be a different place. We are sons and daughters of the true King. We are not defined by what jobs we have, how many cars we own, what school we went to, what out GPA was/is, how many friends we have, but by our kingship through Christ our risen savior!!

That is all,

Solve for x?

I get my value from utilizing the gifts that God gave me to the best of my ability. When I don't, I feel less self-worth.

By gifts, I guess I mean the intelligence and talent I was born with. Sometimes, that's the status in life that I was born into. If my parents were wealthy and I did not use the opportunities that provided to do the best I can, I think I lose self-worth.

Your Mileage May Vary

Very good, my friend! Lol, in fact, it made me think of a conversation I had a work. One of my fellow workers asked me how I was so nice, polite, cheerful, and encouraging all the time, and what made me so happy?... My response? Jesus. Her response: I figured. ^^

I think one of the biggest battles Christians face is a battle of their identity. After Jesus went to the wilderness and fasted for forty days, Satan approached him and made advances against His identity. "If you are the Son of God...." Before I came back to the Lord, I saw no value in myself, let alone in my life, because God wasn't in the picture, revealing the most core deep questions of my heart and soul. Am I loved? Am I worthy? When we know who we are in Christ, we know how loved we are, how wanted and appreciated and enjoyed we are. The Father didn't send His only begotten Son to suffer one of the worst tortures recorded just because he pitied humanity, but rather, because of his immense love for us.

We are designed for worship. Even if you're an atheist, you're worshipping something or someone. The heart is an idol factory. When you know who you are in Christ, you will know what to do. When we have purpose imbedded in us, we have a sense of worth. 'When we lose the knowledge of the of the existence of the Creator, we lose of concept of design, when we lose the concept of design, we undermine the discovery of purpose.' - Bill Johnson.

In the New Testament, it acknowledges believers as people who are 'In Christ' two hundred and sixteen times. Yet it brings up the terminology 'Christians' only three times. We are 'In Christ' therefore we carry the same authority as Christ and we carry His righteousness. He made the beautiful exchange for our sins back on the cross. We are so worthy because Jesus is in us.

Our jobs, our personality type, our past may explain us... but it doesn't define us. Our Creator does.
