Well then it should be said if the subject matter is not proper for someone her age, then the subject matter should not be posted anyway.
"You're preaching to the choir, here..."

I'll take it one step further...

Somewhere, I am sure that there is a very innocent 8-year old little girl who can read what everyone writes on any forum on here that is visible without logging in... ;)

I personally think that any forum containing "adult conversation" should be hidden from public view. Only members who log in ( and who are old enough ) should be able to read those forums. ALL other forums should be restricted from having such conversation in them at all.

:)
( I realize you are not necessarily just talking to me, wisebeardman. )

But its moot, since it seems most of the gay threads and masterbation threads posted around here are posted by those under 18.
There is a solution for this...

:)

i voted 'no'...because honestly i can't see the point...
The point is 13-yr-olds are not "single;" they are teenagers.

Besides, teens already have a Teens Forum as well as a Young Adults Forum to cruise. They don't need to hop-on-over the Singles Forum to crash on the couch.

The Singles Forum should be for adults +18 to hang-out and chill because we are no longer "Teenagers." That's the point. :)

If we were going by topics and subject matter, Teens Forum should have become 18+ forum LONG ago with all the craziness in it.
I totally agree with what I see is the intent of this statement --- the Teens Forum should have never become what it has...

Nonetheless --- what is at the very center of this issue is indeed the subject matter -- asking the question:

"Should those who are not [ represented as ] 'legal adults' be participating in threads, the subject matter of which ventures into 'adult' issues - so as to raise 'questionable' legal or moral situations and perplexities."

:)

I voted "no"

To me it doesn't make sense to keep teens from posting when they can freely read what is in the singles forum. My vote would be different if they couldn't see the content.

Since they can see the topics that are discussed in the singles forum and they aren't any more inappropriate than that in the teens forum, should a teen have a question about something that's been said, they should be allowed to ask or contribute. What better place for teens to learn and grow than in a christian community.

Either way, I understand the concern and respect whatever decision is made.

I will...

That is - I plan to - a little later on...

:)
( Right now I need to see about eating something... :p )

In the mean while, consider this:

I believe that the best - and true - solution to this situation involves - and affects - a whole lot more than just the matter that is before us in this thread. A lot has happened. A lot has fallen into the ditch. A lot needs 'fixing'.

Start praying for wisdom --- especially where the Admin Team is concerned...

:)

I voted 'NO' because I think this has been a place where teens can go to seek adult wisdom and answers. Yes there is the Teen forums, but how much is it teens posting and answering among themselves; seeking wisdom from older Christians would be best. And vise versa, younger CCers give something back to the older community.

By separating into stricter categories, we are eliminating the whole community feel. These teens won't be teens for long, we as adults can be role models, because we've been there. We have more life experience, and on average more biblical knowledge. Where else are they going to get this? Miscellaneous? Teen Forum? (where teens help other teens) Bible Forum? (where trolls reside, and heated conversations are the norm)

It does not seem to me a biblical thing to do- to restrict younger generations from guidance and wisdom of the elders.

I think the whole thing is ridiculous and dumbfounded. I'm sorry if that offends anyone, but it's true. lil_christian, and Loveneverfails are really the only two regular posters (that I know of) on the singles forum that are under 18, and anyone who says they don't like them is a liar, because they're two really awesome people to have around here.

Subject matter? Really? In the rare case that something relevant to singles does come up in the singles forum such as what to look for in a mate, or someone dealing with loneliness, it's ok that they can read about it, but God forbid they offer any insight? What are the words of Jesus "Let the children come to me" Jesus tells us to become like little children. I see a lot of wisdom used in posts by the two young ladies I mentioned, a lot of the reason for it? They haven't had to deal with all the crap the rest of us have and they can look at things through a cleaner lens than the rest of us, but "oh dear lord, heaven forbid they post anything because they might show up my 40 year old intelligence marred by years of religious legalism, fanaticism, and ideals that I just can't make add up in my puny little brain."

This whole thing is crap, and prejudice. If you feel threatened by someone that young I think it's time for some self-evaluation. You guys can sit here take a side and submit to whatever decision you want. I won't.

RoboOp-This site (and the singles forum in general) has been nothing but a huge help and blessing to me in the last couple years, the majority of which was easily the most difficult time in my life. As much as that blessing came from adults, it came from seeing the innocence in some of these teens, and remembering what that period in my life was like. I'm sorry, I have nothing but respect and love for you, but I cannot support any decision in support of this restriction. It's wrong.

Based on my observation of what has been posted in this thread and this one - the collective suggestion "from the whole crowd" seems to be...

~ Remove most of the forums from the site completely - but especially:

Bible Discussion Forum
Christian Family Forum
Christian Teens Forum
Christian Young Adults Forum
Miscellaneous

( "Because, they are no good for anything anyway..." )

~ Change this forum name and description:

Christian Singles Forum

Christian and single? Seek (or give) advice and encouragement here.

to:

Everybody and Everything

Source of all CC love, kindness, compassion, and wisdom.

( "For some strange reason, the same people cannot show forth the same attributes and offer the same friendship in any other forum." )

Posting this here too since its been mentioned: I'm over 18. I'm not quite sure where the information that I'm 17 came from, but it's okay. I'm so flattered by the support but Lil-Christian is the only one who deserves credit for being "wiser than the average teen". Love you, Lil!

It's pretty much been said that married people are still welcome. So you're off the hook, Fenner. No worries for you or MissCris, or anyone else that is married.

I want you to be able to post here to Lil Christian.

If the subject matter here is so bad then the Family Forum should be restricted too. Also let's not let anyone with feelings into the Bible Discussion forum because they're sure to get shut out for their opinion.
