I just profile stalked a bunch of you. Because I'm awake. And I'm bored. And I wanted to do something different without leaving my house and being that strange person sitting in Denny's eating pancakes and bacon while reading a very large book at a ridiculous hour.
Be that person Jullianna!

I got a good night's sleep. But I know how you feel. Once in a while I have a night where I can't sleep - no observable reason, I'm not sick, didn't eat a lot of pizza, I just can't get to sleep. It happens just often enough for me to appreciate the good night's sleep I usually get.

If you can't sleep, do something to improve you. Practice your piano playing (easier to do at night if you have a keyboard with headphones) organize your music collection, try out a recipe you've been meaning to try. DO something. It makes the time pass much better than reading a book or lurking on the forum.

Or pray. Maybe God woke you up because this is the only time He can get your attention.

And about escalators, that accident figure is only astounding if you take the actual figure and compare it to completely unrelated things. As a percentage of the total number of people who use escalators it's not so large. In a big store you can have hundreds of thousands of escalator trips in one day alone, just at that one store.

Okay, I admit.. The escalator actually collapsed there. I just don't want to see Lil or anyone else get hurt on those things. They are very dangerous. There have been people with their toes ripped off, lots of head and neck injuries from falling, and there is one guy who actually died when the stair beneath him collapsed and he fell into the machinery (not from a movie which has a similar scene).

Here is an official US government study about the dangers of escalators. It says there are roughly 10,000 escalator injuries per year..

Riding the Escalator: How Dangerous is it Really?

(this isn't directed just to you, Tintin... but to everyone)
Yikes! That's intense. I'm not good with blood and body parts flying everywhere.

10,000 a year is roughly 27 a day. That's like a classroom full of people injured on escalators every single day in the US... and there are probably many that weren't reported.

Random fact time!

I have a slight fear of escalators. I don't mind going up an escalator, but going down is a bit tricky for me. I'm not exactly what you call coordinated. :p So I avoid going down an escalator when I can.

I have a bit of a fear too. My Daughter hates them, so we have used alternative ways when we need to. The going up is OK, but stepping on to them to go down makes me dizzy.

Zero when my Sister was little her shoe laces got caught between the floor and escalator stair as she was stepping off. She's still living so they managed to get her out but she never explained how.

FRUSTRATED!! My computer needs to go to a PC doctor because I keep getting an "Error 0210: Stuck key 47" "Press <F1> to SETUP. The stuck key 47 thing means my G key is stuck...but it's not XD And I can't get to set up....I think my keyboard has stopped working. I'm debating whether or not I should repair it or just get a new laptop since this one is 3.5 years old anyways. For those who doubt me, I'm on my grandmother's computer. I won't be on CC as much until I get this taken care of. I called Customer Support in Atlanta last night and that was a mistake lol. UGGGGGGGGGGGGGH!!!

Check the "Home" key. I know it says its the G key but check it because someone else had that same problem and it was actually the home key that was getting stuck. Good luck.

To prevent further injury and death riding escalators should be against the law in this country unless you are wearing an approved crash helmet, knee pads and steel-toe boots. The same goes for elevators, except a wearing a parachute should be required as well in case the thing plummets to the ground floor.

Tried it all and it's still popping up with the same thing. I took all the keys off yesterday and put them back on and it is still popping up so i dunno. I've been informed that an external keyboard could be a good replacement since my laptop is so used and it could die within the next couple years.

Tourist failed to mention in deploying the parachute that you need to open the little door in the roof of the elevator place chute package on top and as elevator plummets pull the rip cord and chute should have plenty of room to open in elevator shaft....Blond thinks of these things ahead of time.... for the rest of you .....your welcome....

Wearing a jet pack may be a better option than the parachute. An oxygen mask may be required to avoid breathing the toxic fumes of the exhaust.

It's settled. I'm gonna get a new keyboard for my laptop. 3.5 years without any software issues really so I think buying a new keyboard is safe. It'll be getting installed around Thanksgiving though. Why do computers have to be so darned EXPENSIVE D:

Sleep...where art thou?

Pancakes and bacon really does sound good though.

I need to buy a sewing machine.

Yeah...this is how my brain works.

I am taking baby steps too. Line upon line, precept upon precept - a little here, a little there. It sounds like you had an enjoyable time and then it got real interesting. We are both growing in our love of the Lord and our sense of adventure.

I love playing piano in the middle of night in the dark. Haven't done that in over a year. Thanks for the reminder. :)
