Hey everyone,

I made this request in another thread but wanted to post here too because so many of my regular CC buddies hang out here.

My dad is having major back surgery today. He's had more treatments, procedures, and surgeries than I have fingers and toes to count them all.

I'm nervous.

I know I shouldn't be, and that people will tell me to have faith... But he's my dad.

If anyone has time to say a prayer for him, I'd be most a appreciative. Thank you much!!!

Love you all, K.

I really liked seeing your answers, everyone! Thanks for indulging me. haha I'm considering making that into an actual thread, quoting everything that was already answered so that way if others have answers it won't completely flood this area. :)

That is completely understandable for you to be nervous. I'd be surprised if you weren't. ♥ I'll be praying for peace for you.

Had my first day of volunteering today. Since they had a member of the team out because issues with their dog, I spent all of 3 hours heavy lifting, sorting, and putting away boxes for craft supplies. Hehehe I am gonna be soooooooooooooo sore tomorrow.

Since my A1C came down 2 points, and my doctor is awesome, he decided to try a once a week insulin injection that is slow acting. I'll still take my fast acting insulin, but this new stuff is supposed to be wonderful. Well, my insurance won't pay for it. Surprising, isn't it?! The out of pocket cost is $527 and some change. So, I declined to pay at the pharmacy. However, the pharmacy tech said she'd fax the doctor and see if he had another idea, or if he wanted to petition the insurance for a TAR. Which is a special request thing.

The insurance company said (I'm paraphrasing) "Her numbers are too high, her A1C is too high, and we don't support people like her."

To which my doctor said, "That's why you made this super special insulin. For people like her who dropped 2 points in 5 months, lost 85 pounds, and her morning numbers are in the right range."

The insurance company said, "So? She's poor. We don't serve the poor. Expletive off."

So we thought I wasn't going to get the once a week injections. Which is fine. Whatevs. However, I received a call today from my doctor's nurse who informed me they received samples! My doctor set some aside for me, and I can go pick them up after 1:30pm today! Woohoo!

Also, my present to myself when I finish losing the weight is I'm going to become PADI certified! Which means I'll be able to scuba dive. :) It will be about a year until everything is accomplished. I need to lose the weight and join a gym. I'm not strong enough to handle the swimming and all that, but I will be. I will be.

I'm so sorry to hear about the troubles you're having with insurance. But your progress is amazing and I'm so happy to hear about how much better you're doing!! You'll get to where you need to be soon enough! I think I can speak for everyone here in saying, we all believe in you.

I so rarely purchase cereal that I do not recall the last box I bought... aside from the stuff I bought last week.... That I just now finished. I eat cereal like a snack and without milk. It was tasty and now gone.

My thoughts:

1. When hearing from God don't add to what he said or assume you know his reasons for what he tells you to do. If you start praying for Mr. Hottie don't assume that is because God wants him to get saved and marry you.

2. I am very pro praying for people you are attracted to, especially if you find your mind thinking about them anyway. Best way I can think of to make sure that God is kept in his proper place. But when you pray for them, don't be directive in your prayers (i.e. make him love me, show him what a good match I'd be for him, etc.) keep them focused on asking God to do his will and have his way in that person's life (and your own).

3. Especially where matters of the heart are involved, be a bit skeptical about receiving specific direction from God. It's all too easy for even the best of us to confuse a deep desire in our hearts for something good with this is what God must desire because its a good thing.

4. If God is indeed telling you the what, be sure to ask him about the how as well. Don't go off and try to do it on your own just because you know what God said the result should be.
By the way, I REALLY liked reading this. I totally agree. That if someone is in that situation, they shouldn't pray, "Oh God, make them love meeee, I want to marry hiimm PLEASE GOD PLEASE." but I think a good place to start would be to thank God for that person, and to pray that God would soften their heart, that their eyes would be opened, and as it says in the Bible, that he who has ears, let him hear the Gospel.

I'd definitely take whatever I heard with a grain of salt. Because this concerns who you're planning on spending the rest of your life with.

I'm also a big fan of letting God write your not just your love story, but your life story. When we try and do that on our own, it usually ends in disaster, because honestly, we don't know what we're doing. I don't know what I'm doing more than half the time. lol. It's such a challenge because I can be such a control freak, but at the same time it's much easier to let God do what He's gonna do.

If rain makes you that happy you are more than welcome to have some of ours. It has rained 25 out of the past 26 days here dumping waaaaaaaay more than our usual 2.1 inches for the month (we got twice that in one storm along with 6 inches of hail).

PS, I'm sure Texas would love to send you some of theirs too since some areas of the state seem to be floating away.

It seems it hasn't rained in an age, when I know it just rained on Saturday. We like the rain 'round these parts.

We're having the worst drought in the state's history over here even though it keeps looking like its going to rain but then it doesn't.

You would think that after the last disastrous drought that happened in the 70's that they would build at least one ocean water desalinization plant for the los angeles area but nooooo... we'd rather build a stupid bullet train to san francisco instead!
