I need a new hobby. Something that gets me away from my laptop. Ideally it would be one where I get to use my ability to think. Maybe one that's a bit more hands-on, as well. I have so much free time lately it's crazy, and video games just aren't all that entertaining anymore.
Do you go to a gym? If not, it might be worth trying. Although it doesn't require a lot of thinking lol.

Argh...sweets give people stomach aches? Who knew? I do now....I feel like I'm being stabbed in the stomach. not exaggerating, either. It's EXACTLY how it feels. Well, maybe I am, since I can't say I've ever been stabbed before. anyways. Who wants to be the proud new owners of cotton candy and butterfingers?
Sorry to hear that, Lil. :( Wish i could be of more help.

Just had my very first encounter EVER with heartburn, and I must say, it was a very unwelcome guest.

I just left the Lounge after 5 minutes. I don't know what exactly was going on, but the entire vibe alone was one of mockery and pride. I feel brought down, just in that short time. All i know is they were 'joking' about someone, and one of the more long time members was offended. So the 'clique' started making fun of him and basically telling him 'oh well, its your problem'. Then he was told that one of the non-Christian users was more respectful than this long time Christian user. And then this 'Christian' user began mocking his walk with God. I felt good when i woke up, not anymore.

Recently I have been intrigued by Dardanus of Troy, who is believed to be the founder of Troy. Although he comes from mythology, historians seem to believe there was in fact a person named Dardanus. I first ran across him when my mother was putting together my our family genealogy. He is the grandson of Judah, son of Jacob. Although the Bible doesn't mention anyone named Dardanus, it does talk of Dara son of Zarah. Historians regard Dara and Dardanus as being the same person. Incidentally there is the first king of Athens, Cecrops, who can be associated as being Dara's brother Calcol. Dara and Calcol's father was Zarah. Their Greek personas are said to be descended from Zeus.

This is a fascinating intersection of Biblical "mythology" (for lack of a better term) and history. Not only were these descendants of Jacob real people, they did real things. It's not hard to see why people in ancient times might deify Jacob or Abraham, since the power of God was so present with them. It's also really cool to see these Biblical characters from such a different perspective - Biblical characters seen from this Greek viewpoint. After the time of Abraham and Jacob we get their descendants who rolled into places of authority and made their own cultures. I don't know how else to explain it, really. It's just really neat.

Also, some are suggesting that when it was said in Genesis that the scepter would not leave Judah, they were serious. The royal line that started from Zarah through Dara and his brothers is believed by some to have carried into the royalty of all the major European nations. Some would go so far as to say the Queen of England is ultimately descended from Dardanus/Dara. These various peoples and places are really all connected through one individual. Also, I find genealogies to be very interesting. Just going back in time and seeing who comes from who, what royal title this person and that person had, etc.

I wore a long skirt today after work to go on a walk with a friend. It made me feel girly and pretty, whimsical and carefree. I also painted my nails a pretty pink color.

I feel like I will never get married. I long for that one person, that I am their one and only (besides God) and they are mine. I want that. I don't even have an idea of what it feels like. A blessing or a curse, I'm not sure.

I miss South Dakota.

I will survive and thrive. Job 42:1-3.

Every morning, I open the curtains on one of the big picture windows in the living room. Sometimes what I see makes me wish I could go back to bed. Other times, like today, I am compelled to grab my coffee and go wander through the yard, just to be a part of the morning.

Today it's foggy. Thick enough that I can't really see beyond the outer edges of my yard; other houses are just vague, dark shapes. Within this circle, the air is misty and cool. The sun is filtering through just enough to make the dew sparkle on the grass and the tiny plants just beginning to come out of the ground.

In the midst of this quiet, beautiful moment...

Princess Zelda attacked me. Latched on to my ankle and wrapped her cat self around my foot so I couldn't walk.

*sigh*

And so the day begins.

Isaiah 21:7
When he sees chariots with teams of horses, riders on donkeys or riders on camels, let him be alert, fully alert.”

Isaiah 31:1
[ Woe to Those Who Rely on Egypt ] Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, who rely on horses, who trust in the multitude of their chariots and in the great strength of their horsemen, but do not look to the Holy One of Israel, or seek help from the Lord.

But the Egyptians are mere mortals and not God; their horses are flesh and not spirit. When the Lord stretches out his hand, those who help will stumble, those who are helped will fall; all will perish together.
Isaiah 36:8
“‘Come now, make a bargain with my master, the king of Assyria: I will give you two thousand horses—if you can put riders on them!
Isaiah 43:17
who drew out the chariots and horses, the army and reinforcements together, and they lay there, never to rise again, extinguished, snuffed out like a wick:
Isaiah 66:20
And they will bring all your people, from all the nations, to my holy mountain in Jerusalem as an offering to the Lord—on horses, in chariots and wagons, and on mules and camels,” says the Lord. “They will bring them, as the Israelites bring their grain offerings, to the temple of the Lord in ceremonially clean vessels.

I'm still musing about what I want for a hobby. Some things I'm thinking of thus far:

- Church history
- History of the Roman Empire
- Ancient English history
- Philosophy
- Theology
- Running

Some have recommended photography, but I don't take pleasure in it. I just take pictures for the purpose of preserving memories, not making art.

I love the way the beets on my salad make the feta cheese look like bloody lumps. Playing with your food is way "more funner" when you eat healthy.

Hmm...it would seem that consuming 2 pots of coffee by 1:30 in the afternoon makes me very jittery.

On the plus side, caffeine jitters have GOT to be a form of exercise...thereby burning off the calories from the 3 Oreos I ate for breakfast.

...seems legit.

People think it's crazy when I say it's not our job to convert people but it's important to preach the Gospel to others and witness. But here's the thing:

Some plant a seed and some water but God's gonna be the one who does the rest. God has to reach that person's heart and then it's up to that person whether they accept Jesus into their heart and receive His life and blessings. It isn't fully up to us.

Jesus said to the disciples to go and make disciples, but they were specifically called to do that. I'll have to do more studying on this but right now my viewpoint still stands that ultimately we need to love others, show them Jesus and not only witness to them through our words, but our ACTIONS. ACTIONS speak louder than words. Are you gonna give someone a ride if they need groceries but don't have a car? Are you gonna help someone person change their flat tire? Gonna make a meal for someone if they need it? Invite someone for coffee?

Guys, Jesus didn't just speak words, He also did actions to prove He was for real. What about you?

And you have to remember, not everyone accepted what Jesus had to say, or what some of the disciples had to say. Jesus didn't try to convince them to follow Him. Neither did the disciples. They spoke the truth, told it like it is, and weren't desperate to make disciples or to get people to accept Jesus into their hearts. They just spoke the truth, and told it like it is, and people either responded to the calling of Jesus or walked away.
