Why is it that every time I have something important to get done, especially if there's a deadline for it, the first step I take towards accomplishing the task is...

painting my nails?

so that you look absolutely fabulous when you meet all your deadlines!!

There's a good chance that schools won't be open here. I guess it's gonna feel like -20/30 over here. I dunno what it's like where you are, but you're just east of me. I'm guessing things are messy there, too. And very cold.

And I'm thinking about going to school in Minnesota? Well, I applied there for a reason - I wanted a challenge. Not just academically, but spiritually.

It's cold here, not to messy. Everything is frozen. My son is getting over maybe the flu. My daughter had a headache this morning. I let her stay home. I didn't want to wake him up and drag him out in the cold to get her to school. So we stayed home. It has to be really cold or a huge blizzard for them to cancel school here.

oh, you just mean 'burnt creme,' the kind you get at Clinkerdagger, Bickerstaff and Pett's :D

Beef barley soup. Don't you know it's the 'turnip' that really makes that soup go :)
---------------
Sigh, I feel like I have nothing to say.

So, why am I saying it? :D

So this "Budding Philosopher" that hangs around my house said something today.

She said, "Everything that happens was meant to happen, because it happened. If it wasn't meant to happen, then it wouldn't have happened."

ok what is flan?! It sounds like something across from bran and flax. Therefor gross. Starbucks is advertising Flan Caramel lattes and I keep associating it with a health food

Flan is like...a custard of some sort.

  • 2/3 cup white sugar

  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 cups heavy cream

    • 1 cup milk
    • 5 eggs
    • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

      [h=3]Directions[/h]
    • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
    • In a small nonstick saucepan, heat the sugar over medium heat. Shake and swirl occasionally to distribute sugar until it is dissolved and begins to brown. Lift the pan over the heat source (4 to 6 inches) and continue to brown the sugar until it becomes a dark golden brown. You may slightly stir while cooking, but continually stirring causes the sugar to crystallize. Pour caramelized sugar into a 1 1/2 quart casserole dish or a large loaf pan, and swirl to coat the bottom of the pan evenly.
    • In a blender, combine sweetened condensed milk, cream, milk, eggs and vanilla. Blend on high for one minute. Pour over the caramelized sugar.
    • Place the filled casserole dish into a larger pan and add 1 inch of HOT water to the outer pan. Bake in preheated oven for 50 to 60 minutes, or until set.

I can't. I just turned 17 last month. I graduate in less than 2 months, and I plan on going to college this fall. I'm pretty sure that when I graduate, I won't be under the school system. And I won't need a work permit.
guess it depends what the state says. maybe you wont but they could consider you under the system as long as you are under 18

I've only heard of Clinkerdagger, but have never been. Not familiar with those other two.

I like your posts - - even the ones where you don't say anything :p

ewww....no!

Making it all healthy would ruin it. Flan is a Mexican custard - basically what lil shared. I guess what makes it a flan and not any other custard is the brown sugar creating a caramel topping when inverted. I also like a touch of cinnamon on mine.

It was just as educational for me, too, since I've never had flan and I've only briefly heard of it a couple of times. :D
