Why not? We've already had 8 presidents who were single when they were elected. Six were widowers. Grover Cleveland married for the first time while he was in office. James Buchanan never married.

I don't care if he is or is not married. I care if he can run a country.

Seriously though, the reason I asked the question was that I read an article this morning re: the impact a potential First Lady can have on election. I knew we'd had single Presidents back in the day and wondered how people felt about this now.

Besides...we all know Ritter's gonna run someday, right? :D

The life experience gained from being married cannot be replaced any other way. It is a window into the minds of the population. I don't think the president, male or female it doesn't matter, can fully understand the difficulties and concerns of marriage, unless they are or have been. Children are what keeps a population alive and relevant. The best way to raise children is from within a good family. Although, it can be done outside of marriage, it is not ideal. Nothing against single parents, my children grew up with divorced parents. They turned out fine.

I don't vote.
But if I were a registered voter, I wouldn't even think about their marital status to be honest. If they're good president material,
then that's all that matters.

I think the problem may be for many that they don't want someone for President that can't get along with at least one other person on earth that well... lol.

Just a reminder to everyone... Jesus was single.
