Just bought this a couple of hours ago because my car said I had low coolant level for about a week now, I checked it out and didn't see any fluid in my radiator so go and get a bottle of this after my workout, I come home and let my car cool down for about an hour and a half then go outside to fill up the radiator. when I took off the cap it just happened to magically be full, same with the reservoir tank. oooooookay?

What probably happened is this.. when your engine is running, the coolant starts flowing around in the cooling system filling up the hoses and pathways in the engine, etc.. and so it pulls fluid from the reservoir making it appear empty, and maybe your particular system pulls so much fluid into the hoses and stuff that the fluid level of the radiator goes down too, but when the engine gets hot the coolant will expand and fill the radiator and reservoir... so maybe your engine was still well within normal operating temperature when you checked it (not hot, not cold).

I think that is exactly what happened. I believe that the low coolant reading is based on the sensor reading in the reservoir tank. When the engine is running the radiator gets drained to a point where it is then replenished by the coolant in the reservoir. At this point the coolant level is below where it should be. Once the engine is turned off the coolant temperature raises and the fluid expands back into the tank.

I recommend that the engine be started without the radiator cap. Once the thermostat opens if the coolant level in the radiator drops then add enough coolant to fill. Shut off engine, replace cap and check again in both the radiator and reservoir when cool. Top off if necessary.

It would be a good idea to replace the thermostat also. Highly recommend.

This is what I just bought less than an hour ago. Had to make an emergency candy run because I was feeling down and a bit sad tonight. :( I got a little leather notebook from this cool japanese store called Daiso where almost everything is $1.50. The $1 million dollars is actually a chocolate bar. Yes, chocolate was needed stat! The young lady at the checkout asked me if I was having a sweet tooth. I just smiled and said "something like that". I didn't want to tell her that I was feeling hopeless and that I miss my dad. Just another day in the life of zerot....

Well, this morning I got up bright and early to purchase my LAST accounting book I will need for school. I was surprised with how much it cost and then had to purchase a binder for that book, but God has provided for me so no complaints, instead be thankful for all he has given me.

Tonight I bought socks for homeless people as part of some drive a group of friends are contributing to. The socks I bought say "SWAG" on them...

Not sure if I did a good thing or a bad thing.

Whatever the socks say is irrelevant in my opinion, it's the fact that you did something for someone else without being asked. Excellent example of who Christ is and the love he has for others.

The most recent I bought were gifts. A one year bible devo for my roomie who recently had her 2nd miscarriage and a few devo calendars for my other friends. And a beautiful pink cup coaster for me. Now I'm officially broke until Friday. But I think it was good investment. The next thing I'm gonna buy, though, I am so excited for it. Come weekend!

I hope you didn't mix Dexcool with regular antifreeze that was already in your radiator.

I LOVE Daiso. Here, everything is $2. I just hate going there cause I always end up with wayyy to many stuff that I won't even need, but just because they were $2 I had to buy them.
