ya know how people gesture when they are speaking succinctly. That whole three fingers together as they conduct their thoughts? That's what he was doing :)
I was just trying to create a little amusement --- it was not meant as a serious question ...

But - thanks!

I'd be too much into the bookstore to even notice a girl. First of all, I'd be too self-conscious about what I'm looking for and little too preoccupied with what I'm looking at. Second of all, I tend to take my time whilst at any store if I'm just browsing. Even I get impatient withmyself. Third, if anyone tried to talk to me while I'm in my personal "I'mjustlookingaroundoutofcuriousityandfacination" mode, I'd bumble out something asinine and be all sseb'zeh'ble'bleh'yeeah about it. But when it comes to bookstores by themselves, it's just plain crazy how many hours I can spend there even it is with just a set amount of cash. And that's usually the problem... >_>

If I had $25 to spend and pick out $120 dollars worth of books, I'd have to boil it down to books that I can learn and grow from.

Back to the original topic. xP

If I were confident enough and had the money to use a bookstore like that, I probably would. But in any real case, if the person(female xP) in front of me, at the check out counter, was short of funds to purchase a book or two I'd totally offer to cover the rest. The richness of a kind deed feels a lot more "sharper" than reading a book.

(Oh, I too, like the smell of a new book. Old book smell is almost as good. But, I almost feel bad for them when I hear the cracking of a new book.)
lol I was always the same way unless at the bookstore on a date. The nice thing about being at a bookstore on a date is the guy is already set up with loaded pockets with the plan to get a little memento for you in the first place. This might explain why almost all my dates since 18 have been with guys in the 35-55 age group...

If you're caught reading any more than a page or so of a book in Australia, you'll be questioned and rudely asked to leave the shop. That's my experience any way. Not that I've ever read more than the first page or two (to get an idea of the writing style, voice etc., and the back cover blurb. Some people who work in bookstores need to get a clue. I have integrity.

tin-tin, I know what you are meaning by this, so, don't take what I say wrong.

When we look over books in a bookstore, or, online, that we are thinking of buying, we should look, first, for what God is wanting to tell us, and, I understand 'writing style' and 'voice,' and word 'etc.' so you're leaving open your having included 'God's voice,' if you will, without actually having said it. But, yeah, I just wanted to say that here, I've got nothing else to say, except, LOL, at whatwouldkildendo's comic strip :D

Hahaha that's great. Too bad I don't like to read... So I would never go into a bookstore. I've only been in one like once my whole life. ;)

Girls, typically, don't make as much as guys either, regardless of getting a date out of it, it's just a nice gesture to buy a girl a book . The Lord leads. He just may using you to bring glory to Him through getting her a book and asking her out; I can't help but think that kind of 'book-buying' gesture won't stick in a girl's mind for quite a long time.
And, I think, when you buy a girl a book, she will go and do something, maybe, if you do go out, because girls have that caring attitude about them and remember graciousness with their own, so, she might take you out for ice cream and insist she pay because you bought her a book, or, even, dinner, and, again, she may insist she pay.

In my opinion, when a girl says she wants to pay for your dinner, you, ultimately, will make more points with her if you say 'no.' But, if you go to Baskin Robbins or Coldstone Creamery or TCBY type place then letting her pay for that, as long as it's the same price as the book is a VERY good sign that she LIKES you :)

Also, girls, if he has bought you the book and then you go get ice cream, I think, you will make an impression on the guy in a big way by volunterring to pay for the ice cream. In fact, not volunteering COULD make that guy think you are just using him. It does not need to be thought this way eihter by the guy, he may not think this way, but, he might, and, miladies, chancing it might not be what you want to do :) The Lord leads. :)

Green, I think you're over thinking this. When I buy a book, I don't think I need to consult God about it. He's given me a brain and discernment. Also, by 'voice' I mean the personality/character of the author and how it shines through (or bottoms out) in the writing. For example, C.S. Lewis has a different voice to Stephen King and King and Neil Gaiman but all are men who write fantasy fiction.

OK, tin-tin. That's how you view things. I, personally, try to, anyway, consult God, who lives and breathes inside me, for everything I do, and, picking out a book or, of course, He really talks to me when He PUTS a girl I think attractive in a certain place, like, for example, a bookstore :) And, yeah, I think He wants us to talk back, and, talking is of the unseen variety, as I believe, it's of no words, no voice, just a doing action of faith, which, we know from Scripture is the only POSSIBLE way to 'please God.' Notice, I didn't say, 'Without belief, it's impossible to please God,' because that's something entirely different than having faith. :) We can believe a girl in a bookstore is right for us if we were to go up to her, but, without faith, we will not 'see' she is right for us, or not. God will test our faith in many ways, and, certainly, in this human life we live, rejection is part of that scope of reality, too. But, if we focus on Him and try, through faith in His leading, to understand His targets out there for us are for us to HIT then we will not MISS God's best life now for us. :)

The Lord leads :) God bless ya, aussie mate :)

Omg, if only I could find a girl I was attracted to at a bookstore...
I am a little old for you, but I am cute, nice, kind, fun and adventurous (as told to me by a guy) and I go to bookstores quite often. LOL!!
