lol I was always the same way unless at the bookstore on a date. The nice thing about being at a bookstore on a date is the guy is already set up with loaded pockets with the plan to get a little memento for you in the first place. This might explain why almost all my dates since 18 have been with guys in the 35-55 age group...

Girls, typically, don't make as much as guys either, regardless of getting a date out of it, it's just a nice gesture to buy a girl a book . The Lord leads. He just may using you to bring glory to Him through getting her a book and asking her out; I can't help but think that kind of 'book-buying' gesture won't stick in a girl's mind for quite a long time.
And, I think, when you buy a girl a book, she will go and do something, maybe, if you do go out, because girls have that caring attitude about them and remember graciousness with their own, so, she might take you out for ice cream and insist she pay because you bought her a book, or, even, dinner, and, again, she may insist she pay.
In my opinion, when a girl says she wants to pay for your dinner, you, ultimately, will make more points with her if you say 'no.' But, if you go to Baskin Robbins or Coldstone Creamery or TCBY type place then letting her pay for that, as long as it's the same price as the book is a VERY good sign that she LIKES you
Also, girls, if he has bought you the book and then you go get ice cream, I think, you will make an impression on the guy in a big way by volunterring to pay for the ice cream. In fact, not volunteering COULD make that guy think you are just using him. OK, tin-tin. That's how you view things. I, personally, try to, anyway, consult God, who lives and breathes inside me, for everything I do, and, picking out a book or, of course, He really talks to me when He PUTS a girl I think attractive in a certain place, like, for example, a bookstore And, yeah, I think He wants us to talk back, and, talking is of the unseen variety, as I believe, it's of no words, no voice, just a doing action of faith, which, we know from Scripture is the only POSSIBLE way to 'please God.' Notice, I didn't say, 'Without belief, it's impossible to please God,' because that's something entirely different than having faith. We can believe a girl in a bookstore is right for us if we were to go up to her, but, without faith, we will not 'see' she is right for us, or not. God will test our faith in many ways, and, certainly, in this human life we live, rejection is part of that scope of reality, too. But, if we focus on Him and try, through faith in His leading, to understand His targets out there for us are for us to HIT then we will not MISS God's best life now for us.
