See post 88. I believe that you called her an unbeliever because she watched a few horse flicks. I enjoyed Sea Biscuit as well. Apparently, you're riding high in the saddle.
Some people just can't help being full of horse manure.

Secretariat is also a very good movie :) Secretariat is often called the greatest race horse ever to live; nobody has ever matched or broken his records. His actual owner makes a cameo in the movie, which starts by quoting the book of Job, and is quoted elsewhere in the movie as well. Oh dear, now we are going to have PHart breathing down our necks because betting is shown. War Horse is also a movie worth seeing, though it is a fictional story.

My UNBELIEVER ALERT is going off full steam. You don't even seem to realize what you're doing, do you, lol? You're using all the unbeliever's tactics they use when defending themselves against the conviction of the truth.
You seem to know alot about being an unbeliever "yourself" how is it that someone posts a "simple reasonable topic" and here you come rail roading it,a rather "odd" thing for a "believer" to do considering that we are to be "compassionate" toward one another, and also considering "how fast" you brought up "sex" though there was no reason to mention it at all in this thread which you pretty much have tried to butcher out of the blue, since when is Jesus against people having "opinions" in what they like?

Thanks for the mental image. :p

I don't really watch TV shows. I do watch The Simpsons and Family Guy a lot.

The last "recent" show I watched was Dexter. Boy, did I love that show.
Have you tried Bobs Burgers? Its alot better than those shows : p

(Older Simpsons was great though)

... apparently naked people were watched in the Bible...
Yes, this is true, God promised to have David's wife given to his son to be ravished in full public view. I wonder what PHart would say of the Book of Solomon. One would have to assume, after everything he has said, that he will NEVER read t.

He may very well hold himself to strict standards and rules, but it's clear he has many unresolved internal issues, extreme paranoia, broken unbeliever detector, elevated sense of self-worth, and the inability to connect with others and communicate.

Probably trying to deny his faults by keeping himself to a rigid code, rather than maturing and understanding the source of issues. This also enables him to look down on virtually everyone else, which probably has more to do with the strict rules than anything. "I'm not one of them", a humble sinner.

Or Proverbs.

Let them be for yourself alone,
and not for strangers with you.
Let your fountain be blessed,
and rejoice in the wife of your youth,
a lovely deer, a graceful doe.
Let her breasts fill you at all times with delight;
be intoxicated always in her love.

Whether in a movie or in real life, watching naked people have sex is a sin. It's impossible to rationalize it. If you're sure it doesn't matter, go for it. You were warned. If you are so sure it's okay you'll drop it here and move on. But if you are convicted, you will continue to try to justify yourself in doing it. I know how this works.
I don't totally disagree with you save that there is nothing to justify, what is written is written. As for myself I hardly watch TV anymore let alone anything more ribald than Wheel of Fortune, dang Vanna still looks good for being old enough to be my mom. Lol for me personally sex is kinda a silly topic for me because I have not had sex.

On the overall topic of TV, besides the Wheel and a spot of news at dinner, been watching Walking Dead lately. I mean who needs porn when you got good old fashioned zombie violence and the interesting real life possibility that a fictional TV show fanbase/cult could possibly fictionally write itself out of existence by having their fanbase's favorite fictional characters fictionally killed by Negan?

Yes, I know how this works in the church these days, folks. You're the one's purposely watching naked people engage in explicit sex acts, but I'm the bad one here, lol. But I know that is where the church is these days.

Chances are many of you came into the church at the promise of God's grace in the forgiveness of sins, not also at the promise of God's grace in not wanting to be in bondage to sin anymore.

It took me until just recently what it was that was dividing the church into devout followers of Christ who defend right living and those who talk up the gospel of God's grace but who do not live it out. I think I now know the answer. Some of you did not come to Christ to be different people delivered from the things that condemned you as sinners separated from God. You came to him just for the forgiveness of sin, not in the desperate hope that you could be set free from your bondage to sin.

I don't necessarily blame the flock. I blame a very misguided and uneducated leadership who have misrepresented the gospel and who think they are doing right by luring unconverted and lukewarm people into the church with only one half of the gospel--the half about the forgiveness of sin, at the expense of the other half, the promise of the deliverance from the sin that a person should want to not walk in anymore and which should have been included in why they would want to come to Christ.

Yes, men, your WIFE'S breasts, not someone else's.

I was asked if I had a scripture for a couple that had met in the youth group at church and then married. This was it. I read it out loud in the youth group and prayed over them. I hoped it would give them a good jump start on a beautiful, intimate life together. Sex belongs in marriage. Don't defile the wedding bed by inviting strangers in, even if only through the eye gate.

Yes, what a wonderful excuse for us believers to watch pornography!

Post the passage. Haven't read it in years, but if I remember correctly you will see it was not what you think it was. But either way, do you really think this is God's blessing on his people to go into other people's bedrooms, and attend orgies, with their eyes? Really?

Yes, so many pictures and descriptions in the Bible of beautiful naked couples thrusting and moaning in intimate and personal sex acts. I guess God really is okay with his people watching naked people engaging in explicit sex acts!

Get real, Magenta.

If I were a betting man I would wager that your assumption is probably right on the money.

Another reason I liked the movie Secretariat, is because it reminded me of this wonderful song, which is part of the soundtrack. I posted it in Mar's Happy Songs' thread three days ago :)

Of course, another 'no win'. You will attack with either answer I give. If I say it's okay, you'll call me inconsistent, or a hypocrite. If I object to it, you'll call me a self righteous legalist. I've been around the block, folks. I know the tactics people respond with when confronted with truth they don't want to be confronted with.

There is no nudity in the movie Sea Biscuit. I can't remember one cuss word uttered either. Just clean family type of entertainment. I didn't see the movie about Secretariat but I have watched all of his triple crown races many times. That was one awesome horse. Unbeatable.

Secretariat is rated ages 8+, whereas Seabiscuit is rated 13+. War Horse is rated at ages 10+.
