It's been on my mind a lot these days because of things my loved ones have been going through... Which is harder for most people? Going through hard, painful times in your life or watching your loved ones dealing with it?

For me I would far rather it be me than my friends/family... I find it extremely difficult to watch someone I love in pain and I'm totally and completely helpless.. I've always been a big softy so to have to stand by and watch them suffer is at times the hardest thing I've ever had to do in my life! And is it made harder by being single? not having an "other half" to turn to for comfort? I believe it makes it harder but would appreciate some feedback on that!

I have to agree 4evrfree, it is so difficult to watch someone suffer, especially little ones and loved ones.

Um it depends on the type of suffering.

Since I value myself less than other people, I'd probably say I'll take the pain, since they have lives and important things to get on with.

For example, I would not wish my brand of internal conflict on anyone. Perhaps not even my enemies.

I was actually being entirely serious. If someone else is suffering I can help them as best I can, but at least I generally feel ok and am only affected by bouts of sadness. if I am suffering it's horrible! :S Horrible horrible horribleness.

A trial gives God an opportunity to test my heart... I try not to lean on my own understanding... Hand all emotions to God first... Have faith and confidence in Him... I don't really suffer any more ... It's a greater opportunity to trust God... I look back at all the useless and needless suffering I went through... No more! I'm claiming my freedom in Christ!
