Hey SoulSearch.

I guess I am the only guy on the entire planet who enjoys DiCaprio's movies. I hope that admitting that I like Leonardo DiCaprio as an actor doesn't get me kicked out of the "Society of Uncompromising Men." But even if I do get kicked out, I am sure "My Heart Will Go On."

LOL!!! For the response alone, Descyple... if someone should try to "vote you off the island", I'd surely step in and put in a good word for you!! Not that anyone would listen to me, but hey. A guy who can admit to liking some of Leo's work just because he does and isn't afraid of being beaten up because of it deserves at least a few major "manly man" points.

It takes a manly man to admit liking some of the works of a guy other guys say is girly-looking.

And P.S.--Nod--thanks for the compliment! :) I knew that even if no one else answered this thread, I could count on you!! :)

Actually "The Man in the Iron Mask" was the only real "manly" movie he's ever made. Inception was ok though.

Now Heath Ledger on the other redeemed himself for the role he played in Brokeback Mountain by playing the Joker in the Dark Knight (Batman 2). Maybe leonardo should sign up to play spiderman or one of the x-men.

Now Brad Pitt, he's the man. He knows how to pic his roles wisely. Despite all the "chic flicks" he's done, he's followed up with some awesome masculine movies, Troy being a perfect example.

Both Christian Bale & Hugh Jackman have done their fair share of "chick flicks" in their careers however, they also have made some the best action / adventure movies in the last 10 years.

It's not about one's looks but rather their role selection. Leonardo simply hasn't chosen the right movies to win over the guys yet.

I haven't seen Hugh Jackman in anything other than "Kate and Leopold", so I can't comment, but Christian Bale can play a wide variety of roles. To me, Leo hasn't been able to successfully pull off most of what he's tried. An action/adventure movie? It remains to be seen if he could pull it off. I have my doubts. Big, huge, nagging doubts.

Some actors just aren't good at certain roles. I love John Wayne. He only could act one way, but I loved it. He was truly awesome in his one part in certain types of movies. However...ever seen "The Conqueror"? John Wayne as Genghis Khan, Emperor of the Mongols? It's making me laugh even now knowing how bad he was in that movie. One of my favorite actors in the wrong movie...awful. I think putting Leo in anything with guns and car chases would be the same.

I like him in the quick and the dead

Of course he gets smoked by Gene Hackman but that is probably the best part of the movie

I am glad you've got my back SeoulSearch. And if you ever need someone to stand up for "girly-looking guys", I am your Man! (that comment will definitely get me barred from all "Mens Groups" everywhere!!!).

And I think the first person you will need to protect me from is Nuke Pooch. If he had his way, he would pick up his pitchfork and chase both you and I through the Titanic - a la Billy Zane!!!

Okay, that is my last "Titanic" reference, or else people will begin to think I actually liked the movie, which I didn't. Really, I didn't!!!

You gotta check out any of the X-Men flicks. I don't think anyone would have ever thought that Hugh Jackman could have pulled off a role as eccentric as Wolverine but he did a great job of making the role his own. Also he was great in the move "The Prestige" which also stars Christian Bale. They both play Houdini style magicians in the very early 1900's that hate eachothers guts and will go to any extreme to "one up" the other. Very cool movie

Personally I think Joseph Gordon Levitt was the star of Inception:) a real underrated actor!

Titanic will always be a classic though...we all like that bit of Titanic when the floods kicked in. When I see actresses such as Megan or Scarlett I turn any bit of envy into "good for them...they're obviously nice to look at for the oposite sex and if they are nice people then they deserve the fame they get.."
he is a bit girlish lookin though.....but thats not his fault

Okay, so I've been giving this topic a lot of thought lately (argument mapping, flow charts, iced lattes etc) and wasn't making much progress until a moment of inspiration hit me when a Justin Bieber song randomly came on the radio (or was deliberately played by me placing one of his CDs in the stereo... I can't remember which). It was that song that goes "Baby, baby, baby, baby." I know you know the one I'm talking about.

Anyway, it struck me like a light bulb that Justin Bieber is the perfect example of someone who gets a lot of hate simply because of jealousy. What other reason is there not to like him? The kid can sing and the ladies love him and he has tons of money. I dont buy this "He's too feminine" garbage. It's an excuse. Leave the kid alone, he can't help it that he's better than you.

I think it is some that Christians like just dont like the way they act and inappropriate movies they are in. (Like Megan fox does bad stuff and there are others that do bad stuff to.)
But I also think ENVY plays a role because I am stuggling with envy and low body image as some teens are because of all the male fitness models and female models out there.
It's most likly a mixture of stuff.

The Prestige sounds good...but I've not been an X-Men fan...never was into comics. Same reason I haven't seen any of the 400 Batman movies. Yes, I've heard they're good, but they just don't interest me.

I recently was told that I need to grow my facial hair like Wolverine's though. Not so sure I could pull that off.
