I personally have a bit of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), which basically means that I feel a bit mopey on grey days...and in winter, the days are greyer than most.

However, I also find that I relish the winter. Even though I feel like I want to hibernate, I need that period of 'death' and 'solitude' to be followed by the 'rebirth' of Spring.

Not sure if that's what you were getting at...?

We all need sun; chemical changes. Especially for those of us who are green and have the chlorophyll. The further north you go, the more extreme is the length of day change summer to winter.

I tend to get more down or "blue" around spring/summer time...I think I'm backwards.

That's great, microwave fido :) The Lord leads, you are that way for a reason, and, I guess, girls especially have that SAD and with Him, it is OK, He overcomes all. Joy-joy-joy :)

Yes, I am especially needing 'green,' it's in my blood, ya know, kinny :)

I don't think it's necessarily winter that can get me down, as I actually enjoy winter for the most part. I like the quietness, the snow, the brisk cold.

I also enjoy rainy days on occasion. It's great weather to curl up on the couch with a cup of hot chocolate and read. :)

That being said, I have found that when I'm in a bad mood and the day is cloudy/rainy/cold, it does seem to worsen it. Sometimes during spring or fall if I'm in a bad mood, I can go for a walk and the nice weather will help cheer me up a bit. I suppose that's why it could be worse in the winter.

I also don't know if it's worse when you're single because I've never not been single so I can't say that I know. :)

My issue in the winter is that I am not as physically active as I am in warmer weather, and it can affect me mentally and emotionally. I have a very fast-paced, stress-filled job. Running, cycling, playing softball, swimming and other physical activities help me keep that in check when it's warm out. I should probably go ice/roller skating, play raquetball or other things during the winter to detox. :)

I hate daylight savings time. It's depressing when the time changes and it gets darker earlier.
I can't wait to have my two and a half hours of sun back in a couple of months.

Yes! And when I get off work in the evening, it is still light out. It is a glorious glorious day! :D

Winter does give us the blues sometimes its the after holidays blues or also its because we see less of the sun and we are not outside doing things because its so cold out ..I really would not blame it on being single ,there are things we can do to keep us from being lonely going to church meeting ppl , but its natural to be blue in the winter ..from time to time we just need to find a way out of .. not focus on what we do have and what we don't .
