I think this is a great verse to help us see how much we have grown and matured in our walk with God.

Hebrews 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us...

What weights have you layed aside?

I guess we can make a short list or long depending on how much you feel like sharing. :)

1: video games
2: bad tv, music, movies
3: bad, rude, jokes and talking
4: overthinking
5: irresponsibility
6: wanting to change people
7: arguing
8: vengefulness
9: sarcasm
10: patience with children

Uh I hope I get some posts my threads usually don't get many :p ah well :D

Cigarettes...
Drugs...
Sexual thoughts and tendencies...
Still trying to quit video games (I gave a away a video game account that I had spent 2 years playing and at least $1000 american, for a teenager with no job, that is a lot of money...)
I am trying to correct my anger problems ...
Cursing, (that was one of my favorites...)
And debating the existence of God... No longer a debate for me :) (Sometimes)

I have laid aside a few however there is a major weight that i cling to. I know it is wrong and i do have a friend that is helping me (if i dont drive him crazy). Anyway i need your prayers bc i know to be partially right in my eyes is totally wrong in Gods eyes. Pray for me. I dont want to go to hell

Your friend is very brave.
I would never talk to a woman about her weight.

-alcohol
-drugs
-partying
-bad music
-bad movies and tv
-gossip(still working on that.., but I am so much better now!)
-unrighteous judging
-anger(still have a few outbursts towards my brother...)
-ignoring God's plans for me
-cussing

This is a cool thing to do, it shows how far we have come on our walk with God. Sometimes I get a little frustrated because I get made fun of from former friends because they don't like who I have become. I haven't noticed significant changes because they all happened over a period of time, but writing them out shows just how much God has helped me to change! Awesome!

I listen to a lot of music and watch a lot of movies I probably shouldn't, but what's strange is I never feel like they're separating me from God. I don't know, for some reason either God can speak to me through them, or I'll get done watching something I know I should have shut off long before it was over and He'll say, "Your an idiot, don't do that again."

There's another issue I have that I know I need help with, but I'm not real close to a lot of people at the moment to help me, and I've dealt with so much crap in the last couple years that I never really had time to focus on dealing with it until recently. :/ It sucks, I'll appreciate any prayer I can get for it.

I had a serious potty mouth when I was much younger. I prayed that God would help me with it. The next time I was upset and started to say something I shouldn't have, when I opened my mouth nothing came out. It was so funny! God is so amazing. :)

I used to have a difficult time with my temper too. I would hold my anger in and it would eat at me. God has shown me how to let it go. Anger only gives others control over me. Don't want that in my life. It's a joy sucker.

Oh...and I weighed 123 lbs as of this morning :D

my words-
My thoughts
Its been a very interesting Conclusion trading in what i "think" for thoughts God has given ... took a serious look at the gift of "words".. i did a personal inventory of "how" i have been using them.. Wow! Just wow!
so much of what is now coming out is transforming into a whole different vocabulary.., Trading in "death words" for
"life words" has brought many Opportunities to call on Christ to help master this... Unbelievable how powerful a word can be..,how Much more accountability i have now seeing them really as a "gift"

introversion
Fear
Anger
Unforgiveness
control
Judgement

This stuff could also just be because I am older now and for health reasons but:
Pot
Partying
Drinking (aside from the occasional glass of wine)
Staying out late
Having friends that are not good friends to me

What I can remember:
-Drunkennes
-Clubbing/partying
-Getting influenced by bad friendships
-Getting obsessed over vain things like looks, clothes, reputation.
-Anger

I'm still struggling with other issues but it's good to remember all the things God has helped me with :). Good thread!
