To ask God for forgiveness, you need to pray and tell him all the things you want to say. Tell Him your wrongdoings.. tell Him that you areally are sorry. If you feel like crying then cry out to Him. Cry. Tell Him that you need Him. He loves you and no matter what He will forgive you. Keep that in mind.

The most important aspect to repentance is acknowledging your own sin. Atheists will claim that because we can receive forgiveness at any time Christianity only serves to stunt emotional growth. But Christianity is about repentance. And repentance requires a change of heart - not just a seeking after of emotional consolation that forgiveness can bring with it.

Psalm 51:17 My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise.

Don't try to ask for forgiveness for the sake of emotional consolation. Don't ask God to help you do better in order to shift the burden of responsibility onto him. What you do is up to you. You are responsible for your own actions. Don't at any time in the process of repentance try to make yourself feel better. Purge all such selfish thoughts from your heart. If you have done wrong, then you have no excuse. Quiet your heart before God, contemplate on what you've done. Do not try to feel like you have "made progress." If there is progress it will show itself in due time. Not just in a single moment.

Passover is coming up very soon along with the Feast of Unleavened Bread. Just as we are to search every crevice of our house for leaven, so we are to search every crevice of our heart for sin and then purge it.

I say this all to you, because I have a relative who plays emotional games with herself. She has an addiction. And every time she messes up she "repents." She tells me of all the progress she has made. She tells me that she is sure she can lick it this time and "feels" good about how far she has come when she really has only sunk deeper than before. I think in order for repentance to work we need to be self-sacrificing and assign to our reprehensible actions reprehensible emotions so that we will never want to go back again.

Hello Cran. We can distance ourselves from God, But God will never ever distance himself from us. Don't let the enemy twist and tell you otherwise. God is there with his outreached hand ready to lift you up. Push the guilt, or bad feelings aside. Lift yourself up in prayer. ask God for forgiveness for the things you said, done and thought wrong. and ask him for wisdom.
He knows everyone sins, he knows everyone will make mistakes, but if you really mean that you want to walk with God, and show him faith. Reach out your hand to grab God, because he is there ready.

Its the enemy that makes your feelings of guilt and feeling that you can't turn to God. But believe me! there is strength and power and wisdom in God. and Thats all God want's to do, is bless you. Find a moment, and pray to God, in your own words. And believe God answered your prayer before he does it. That way you are showing true faith..

Read Matthew 7: 7. and act upon it. God is a good God, and just wants to bless you and everyone. Yes you can ask for prayer from other people. but the main steps has to come from you is you really love God and want to show true faith.

Best thing you can do in any type of situation is Pray. If you feel departed from somebody to talk to them right. Well, that's all, pray is, talking with your heavenly father. Rest assured, my brother I am praying for you and will continue keep me updated. My pleasure.
