I don't care what you say, I'm still gonna listen to this music, I'm still gonna play this music, and I will use the music that I play to worship the Lord and tell others about him.
LOL. Dude I did not give you these commandments but God, so in other words you are saying that you will not listen to God. You will be doing yourself a favour if you listen to God and not me...not even God. My advice is that you take your questions to God. It’s up to you. Everyone will give an account of THEMSELVES to God on THEIR own. It’s about YOUR relationship with God.

Hm, somehow I get the impression that you, starfield, didn't read my last few posts on this topic.

I would highly recommend you to to so.

Thank you! That is exactly what I thought. He does not care about what God says.
I do care about what God says! I think that He'd be happy that I wanna make music for him, regardless of what genre/subgenre i play. I just happen to want to play in heavy metal/death metal, because that's what I'm more comfortable and familiar with. I will listen to your average gospel tunes (which are also awesome :) ), but I don't really wanna play them. I will sing them, however.

Heavy metal/death metal is what I want to make God's music in.

If he did, he'd renew his mind instead of filling it with the gunk of this world!

But the music you make isn't Gods. Be not conformed to the world kiddo.

And they might say "praise the Lord" and mean it. I mean how can you be sure your pastor in church is no hypocrite? Thats no argument to me.
Yes MdNordlicht, I read your post but I still disagree.
That is why you should test the spirits. Do not be so gullible to trust anything that proclaims to be from God; Satan works through false teachings and seducing spirits. This is the area that some Christians do not address.
“And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light” (2 Corinthians 11:14).
“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world”. (1 John 4:1)
And..........I will not go on about this. This is my last contribution on this issue.

Sorry to hear you feel that he's attacking others, judging, etc.....maybe he is to you and others, idk, but I'll say this, he's entitled to his opinion, beliefs, feelings, and all that and can say what he wants just as much as others can....

Lastly, you say ''we are meant to be like God'' and you said ''stop criticizing others''...well, someone has to speak what God puts in/on their heart, and take a stand for God, His word, and His promises....Casting Crowns said it best in a song ''what if the life that we persue, came from a hunger for the truth, what if the family turned to Jesus, and stopped asking Oprah what to do''...we need to hunger for the truth, and well I personally don't like Christian death metal or whatever, but eh whatever others like....however, seems these days, so many are turning to stuff like that and others instead of the Lord. I have heard some of the death metal stuff that's suppose to be Christian, but well, I couldn't even understand them, and so idk, but yeah, posting in an open forum, you should expect and be prepared for others to critizie, that's basically the point in these things to an extent. Anyhow, I see both sides though, but yeah God bless everyone.

O if you knew the Bible you'd know the context of those verses is hypocrisy, not ''judging'' as many claim :).. read the next verses...

3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? 4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? 5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye. 6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you. Matt 7:3-6 (KJV)

It doesn't say not to pull the mote out, but to remove the beam from ones own eye first. I don't have a beam in mine so we're good. :)

Hey, heavy metal lovers, why not call it "life metal", and dress in white clothing, and make it a little nicer to listen to.

While I don't have a strong opinion on the subject, I do think it's important to keep in mind that the debate should be about getting closer to truth, not about who's right and who's wrong.

Ephesians 4:15 "Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ."

It's not judgmental to speak the truth, but it has to do be done out of love. I know that's not always easy, more often than not it's very hard, but it is what we should do.

I can see both sides here. I personally don't enjoy metal, or death metal and I can't reason in my head how death metal would be effective as Christian music. That said, I like the alternative rock genre, and some argue that that is "worldly" and morally incorrect. So it's an interesting topic and a worthwhile one, but try and keep it about bringing each other closer to Christ otherwise it ends up like most debates where one persons goes off one way and the other their way, without anything solved for the better.

I don't see how that helps anyone...
She had an issue with something I wrote in another thread and came on here just to attack me and cause problems, which is why I said that.

baptist n anyone else check out these lyrics
this is by a christian metal band called August Burns Red(ABR)
the song is Redemption

I trust in you for life to live, and air to breath.
Purity fills my lungs.
I no longer live in solitude.
No longer bound.
My heart beats with great devotion.
This is the start to a new beginning.
On my knees praying for mercy.
Hands raised high, humble and broken.
Wanting your grace.
Wanting your security.
Memories of laying face down, motionless, with such a hollow feeling inside.
Soon I would end this life I was living.
I am just a man with a heart and sinful hands.
I am a fallen victim.
Lord, show me the way.
I ask of you Father, let my words be your words.
Let my thoughts be your thoughts.
To you, I give my praise.
Show me the way.
Take me in your arms.
Never let me go.
Lord, show me the way, as I give myself to you.
Never let me go.
Hold me with your everlasting love.
Be my strength.
Be my voice.
Be my glory.
Set me free.

i wouldnt say that is satanic at all , i pretty much see amazing lyrics devoted to God there. You can disagree but am just going by what i see and here oh and ABR have a song about the second coming of Christ, and how we need turn away from evil . erm is it satanic too ?? .

have to say all the people who criticize rock music, have you ever been to a Christian rock concert, have you ever experienced pure joy and love from the lord when at these events. To dismiss something because it is rock music is ridiculous, petty and narrow minded. God should be glorified in all music, Rock, hip-hop techno, insane 300 bpm overdriven guitar can still be used to Glorify God. This isn't the 1950 anymore. Religion is love and everyone is free to express it as such.
