What do you think about the saying: 'fake it till you make it'?
Is that something christians should follow? For example, some people are harder to love than others (like our enemies). Should we pretend to love them even though we don't?
And the people who struggle to believe in Jesus, should they pretend that they believe untill they 'make it'?

So what I'm basicly asking is: If you fake being a christian, will you eventually become christian?

There are many fake Christians out there, who have never repented, and are living a carnal life, loving the world and sins!

What is being taught today is a fake message, and a fake conversion or a false conversion, instead of worrying about fake Christians, please make sure you and your family are in the faith, and not going along with the multitudes who think they are saved, but are still defiled, following many false teachings, and living of the world, and not as a child of God!

A Saint or an aint?

Joh 10:27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow(obey) Me.

Either you are one or the other, no such things as a sinning saint! A saint is walking in the present tense with Christ, being obedient, pure in heart and deed, and listening to His voice, then they follow Him on the narrow road. Luke 9-23-24.

Luke 9:23 And He said to all, If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow Me.
Luke 9:24 For whoever will save his life shall lose it, but whoever will lose his life for My sake, he shall save it.

A real saint as described in the Bible has crucified his flesh with Christ, Galatians 2-20,

Gal 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ, and I live; yet no longer I, but Christ lives in me. And that life I now live in the flesh, I live by faith(obedience) toward the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself on my behalf.

Once and for all, hence I have been crucified, and thus they now walk in newness of life, 2 Corinthians 5-17.

2Co 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new.

Cleansed and purified of all willful sin, through a real repentance and faith. 2 Corinthians 7-10-11.

2Co 7:10 For the grief according to God works repentance to salvation, not to be regretted, but the grief of the world works out death.
2Co 7:11 For behold this same thing (you being grieved according to God); how much it worked out earnestness in you; but also defense; but also indignation; but also fear; but also desire; but also zeal; but also vengeance! In everything you approved yourselves to be clear (pure) in the matter.

They must remain diligent and faithful to the truth, obey from the heart, and keep themselves undefiled from the world and its false ways! 1 John 2-15-17.

1Jn 2:15 Do not love the world, nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him,
1Jn 2:16 because all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
1Jn 2:17 And the world passes away, and the lust of it, but he who does the will of God abides forever.

You are not a saint without actually doing the works of righteousness(doing what is right) Jesus didn’t obey for you, but made a way, through His bold example for us to follow, He said His sheep follow Him and His steps and ways, which leads to eternal life. But sadly most churches teaches Jesus did it all for them, He took their place, and a real Christian is actually a sinner, but called a saint because they believe in Jesus!

Rom 8:4 So that the righteousness of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

It’s simple, obedience matters, those who count the cost and endure to the end will inherit eternal life, as you walk in the spirit, and not the flesh, walking as Jesus walked, in sincerity, purity and love!

A real saint will not be perfect as some think perfection is( as perfect as God) BUT will be living the crucified life, that only comes through repentance and faith both proven by deeds! And these deeds include obeying Jesus from the heart, abstaining from all appearances of evil, departing from iniquity, counting the cost, and most of all, crucifying your flesh with Christ once and for all, not because He did it for you, but because He commands you to do it, and a real saint will never argue in favor of sin!

Gal 5:24 But those belonging to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and lusts.
Gal 5:25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
Tommy 8-18-12

Many will say this way is too difficult, and will come up with many excuses why they can’t obey and follow Jesus on the narrow road, but Jesus made it perfectly clear when He said, strive to enter the narrow gate, where the professing church says, it’s done for you, you cannot obey God, and to fear Him isn't important, just believe all is done, you do nothing but trust it has been done for you! Does this sound like the narrow way Jesus preached in the word?

Ecc 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
Ecc 12:14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

I basically believe the Luke Warm Church spoken about in Revelation Chapter 3 is a church of fakers. Since they are neither Hot nor Cold but luke warm they make me vomit is basically what the lord says.

They are Hot because they go to church “ Fake It “ but they are Cold because they don’t believe

I haven't read the other comments and just wanted to drop my opinion. Good questions. I personally think that some people, especially teens, tend to fake being a christian, or their belief is just out of fear of dying and not in the promise Jesus brought us. I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing, although it is not the right thing. I think people who pretend to be a christian, or who want to believe, but find it hard to do so, have a better chance of eventually hearing God's truth and accepting it than say, someone who doesn't ever go to church at all and is in no way open to hearing the truth.

Pretending at least gives them an opportunity to hear what needs to be said to them by other followers of Christ and can eventually allow them to stop lying to themselves. I think the problem is that teens are very spiritually immature and anything spiritual is a vague concept to them. They still have a carnal mind and it's with this carnal mind that their false belief stems from. You can consciously believe, while your spirit is still in denial.

With that said, it is impossible for anyone to know the heart of someone who says they believe in Christ. That's not our place to do so. So these people who pretend, through continued fellowship with real believers, have a really good chance of eventually becoming true believers.

We are called to love as christians...Sometimes, when you get lost in the world, it kind of breaks you down, it makes it harder to really love people...and makes it harder to have faith sometimes... BUT. If you are asking in that kind of a scenario, should you stick with god, and have faith in him, that he is able to fix you, and make it possible for you to be the best person that you can be, even if you cannot see? Even if your doubting? Yes, absolutely. He knows you cannot make it on your own...thats why he died for us. He wants your love, and faith, and even if your only clinging to him by a thought, just push through. Now if your asking if your saying your a christian, but you are still ignoring god, and falling into the ways of this world, will you become a christian? No. So fake it till you make it, in a sense can be true. But nobody is perfect. Everyone at some point has been broken, and fallen short of gods glory. We are all sinners, but you shouldnt let anyone ever tell you, that because your doubting or not able to see him, that your false. Because there are a lot of people out there who will. But you just have to push through that storm, and hold to him. Only you know your heart, and anyone who is willing to tell you that you cant make it, or that your false, are mistaken, they dont know your heart, or your path, dedication is a must, and if anyone ever tries to tell you that your wrong, and their right, and thats the way it is, are wrong, and obviously having some trouble too. SO pray for them and keep moving. :)

I think Matthew 7:21 speaks about this. “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.

So, to answer your question, no. If you fake it for X number of years, that doesn't mean you will ever be saved. It just means you are deceiving yourself.

I got to thinking and wanted to update my stance on this. While what I said before may apply to some people, I thought about something else after reading a few of the other comments. Someone who continues to fake it and go to church and everything, might actually have a better chance of eventually falling away and stop believing due to their overexposure without any real commitment, whereas someone who has never been to church and always lived in sin, might in fact hear the gospel once and find it more real and undeniable than those who have heard it a lot and continued to deny it.

There is really no "faking" being a Christian. Either you are, or you are not. If there is a window that connects you to God, however small, then you are a Christian.

You may view your faith as just a small flickering candle, but it is still there for you, and something you must accept.

We shouldn't have to fake anything. It's okay if we don't like someone, but of course as you said, we are asked to love. I think what God is really saying is that we should still respect that annoying kid at school or our rude co-worker even if we don't like the way they are acting. Take time to find some good in these people and remember these things when they make us upset. We can still tell them we need our space in a polite way without hating them.

What is Faith without Believing?
