I actually don't have a problem with the literal meaning of 'God does not exist', since it means 'steps out' and God is not something like a hairbrush. On the other hand people usually mean 'God is not real', which I utterly repudiate.
Ok, can you explain the difference you see between "god does not exist" and "god is not real"? Because I see no difference.

God is not a physical object with a temporally finite history or mechanically predictable behavior. He is not, so to speak, a 'thing'. He's God.

Ok, I gotcha.

So how was that related to what I was talking about?

Just to point out that when people say 'God does not exist' they're not really saying anything controversial from most Christian, Jewish or Islamic perspectives. You'd have to believe in some kind of Zeus-type JHWH to have a problem with the literal meaning of 'does not exist'.

Ok well I guess I should have said that there's a chance that god is not real. My mistake.

You don't have to believe. One day you will know and you will bow.

I DO NOT BELIEVE IN GOD WHATSOEVER! However, I'm skeptical. If one of you can give me a solid reason as to why I should believe in God, and I mean a really good reason, I will admit on here that God is real. But I have to tell you that I don't think any of you can give me a solid reason because there isn't any proof.
I can give you proof, I can give you all the proof I want till I'm blue in the face. It won't change your heart though, the only one that can change that wretched dark heart is God. Unless He calls you by His Grace, you will remain blind and continue to suppress the truth.

Allow God into everything you think, hear, feel, see, speak, and any other way possible. Once you have done that. Science is no longer the true topic of debate is it? But rather why God allowed our minds to "evolve" into a cognitive force that would even trouble itself with such questions. Is it possible God wanted us to start asking so many questions that some of us one day would learn to ask the right ones? And maybe even quiet down enough to hear His answers that can be found all around us? I'm not claiming any authority over science and it's followers. But science is just one of Gods beautiful ways of saying "Really now? Try that one again." (Of course some humor was intended here, to lighten the mood from debate.)

Ok so let's hear the proof!

It is always difficult when a deep passion for God meets troubled, nervous, or unwilling desire for Him. Please, let us all remember that when most of us reach out to God is when we most want our own conflicts to end. Let's try to devote ourselves to making it very clear that the only true proof of God that we can offer one another is first hand knowledge. Anything beyond that will only confuse and trouble another already in conflict. RE: I Don't Believe There is a God, if you are still following this thread, please feel free to post any more questions about God that you may have, and with patience you will find one or more people that will know how to answer and better understand your own questions. God does not quit on you, and there are times you may not even see that He does not even allow YOU to quit on you. I believe this to be true with you, because for some reason your curiosity for God has brought you to challenge Him and His existence. He does not wish to turn you away for that. But you must continue to reach out for Him in many ways, and He will choose which way is best for you to be responded to.

to not believe is of an atheist, and i have an example using logic and reasoning.

here's a true statement.
you don't believe in God?
would it be better said you dont believe in gods?
knowing there is a dfference between single and plural.
it is clearly stated you don't believe in god.atheist.
yet a deity stands for god or gods
as does belief by definition because it's all in the bible.
suddenly gods makes the argument different.....because atheism doesn't believe in either.
we know in the bible there's a difference between god and gods
it's lining up definitions where one differentiates
a difference in truth.
one asks: you dont know the difference?
the other says i dont need to know the difference neither of them are true.
and then the only truth becomes what they don't believe.

which could make it valid.

we also learn in logic to say something is valid has no indication of it's actual truth in the real world
so we say is it sound or unsound?
this goes with doctrine?is it of sound doctrine?

alot of the times we use valid to pass it off as truth..

Very accurate point made Pen014. Would you agree that it is God that validates any existing truth found through the belief of "Gods" plural? Is it possible that this real world that we are in is subject to so many different beliefs in God or Gods that God Himself validates certain Gods where it best suits His will? I'd be nice to believe that God would not deny you the truth that we all search for because of how we find the truth. But love, faith, and trust in God allows Him to work the truth through all deities which makes the existence of one God a solid truth. Is this only valid? And not true?

RYCAG,

Well, you are not alone and it is normal for you to think like that, and don't worry there will be lots of peps who will give you crap for your beliefs. It is important to understand your own faith and rationale for wanting to or questioning the idea of the existence of God. That means that God is already working in your heart and calling and wooing you onto Himself :)

Think Logically : Every Christian was an Atheist at some point, before submitting and coming to a saving knowledge of Christ. Some of the attitudes of people who say your an idiot for not believing in Jesus is the same as a bunch of grown adults tormenting and torturing little children and saying your an idiot for not being an adult... but they were once children themselves :)

Anyway, is there an ethical or a moral issue that prevents you from accepting Christ? Have you prayed to Him at all?

For me, I have seen so many signs and wonders of God, and His holy spirit, but these things only came way after I accepted Christ as my own and personal saviour and went through a lot of trials and sanctification in my life before I was shown the majesty and splendour of the King. The first year or two, I was a complete mess, studying scripture, trying to not do a whole bunch of things, and somewhere along the way i found out that Jesus wasn't about a bunch of rules but about Love and out of love your behaviour changes, the best mantra about Christianity is I am, therefore I obey as opposed to follow a bunch of rules and therefore you are, which is wrong.

Anyway, it might not be your time to accept Christ, but if you keep pondering and working anywhere in the cross or salvation arena, at some point you will come face to face with Jesus... it is inevitable:)

I believe you should have listened more in science class, what you stated is not a scientific theory. A theory is held at the highest regard in the scientific community.
theory? pardon me theory?

The bible says that we can not please God with out faith. This means that if you can prove God exists there is no need for faith. Also, if you prove there is a God, you disprove Judaism and Christianity. So when atheists ask for proof I feel no reason to respond to their own disbelief.

How does proving there is a god disprove judaism and christianity?

Quite a few people believe in God because of the way they define God. I believe God is all that exists, which is why he is sometimes referred to as the great I AM. To not believe in God when God is defined like that, seems a little bit silly. So the question may not really be whether he exists or not at that point, but you may disagree with certain religious philosophies associated with the belief in God, and therefore deny Him in whatever way you see fit.

I'll be praying Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him! For if, when we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! —Romans 5:9-10
