If you had a believer's baptism, you don't need to be re-baptized. It's like saying, you've been born again but it wasn't good enough so you need to do it again and that defeats the purpose of once saved, always saved.

Yea, I have been informed by some people about this. I wasn't planning on it anytime soon anyways, but now it gives me something to think about.

Congratulations!!!:)
Being baptized is a very special experience!
I was baptized in March of '09.
Or I guess re-baptized..
I see some of you talking about how it's not necessary.
I just wanted to say it was the best thing I ever did, to be re-baptized.
The first time I was baptized, was when I was 10.It wasn't really my decision.
I understood most of what it meant, but not fully.
I wasn't in church from the time I was 11- 15.
But when I got back in church, and after a lot of studying and praying, I realized I needed to do it again.
I'd repented & gotten the Holy Ghost but God was telling me something.
Now I'm not saying this is right for everyone.
We Pentecostals are known for going over the top sometimes.
But hey it can't hurt lol.

Are you implying that your salvation relies on being babtized? If your are, I would LOVE to see some scripture on that. God Bless.

John 3

5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7Marvel not that I said unhttp://christianchat.com/showthread.php?t=8315&page=2to thee, Ye must be born again.

"For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus."Galatians 3:27-28

"...and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a good conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ..." ~ 1 Peter 3:21

"...Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." ~ Acts 2:38

Jn.3:16 God...gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him, should...have everlasting life
Acts 16:31 Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved
Rom.10:9,10 If thou shalt...believe in thine heart...thou shalt be saved

Nothing about babtism there, just believing in Christ.

I don't pretend to be some expert about the things in the Bible.
But okay..
You know repenting, is asking for forgiveness..asking God to save you.
Well baptism...I've always considered it to be a public notion telling everyone "hey I'm saved".
But it's clearly more than that cause as I already posted John 3:5 states:
Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

...Repent, be baptized everyone of you and ye SHALL receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.-Acts 2:38
This is God's promise to us.

Jesus Himself clearly said in John 3:5 that man cannot enter Heaven without being born of water and of Spirit.
This goes along with Acts 2:38.

okay, I'm leaving!!!

I thank the Lord i was able to get baptized today :D
That he gave me a second chance at life.
i was in the hospital beacuse i had a concusion,
Well earlier that day me and my brother were kinda arguing & were about
to fight, i was about to do something stupid & when i bent down to pick up something
my door fell on and hit my head & when i stood up i felt light headed
and fell then hit the otherside of my head againt the metal part of
my bed,
Next thing i know i hear my mom crying and praying really
loud to God, at first i taught i was dreaming and wanted to wake up but
i couldnt, i started getting scared beacuse no matter how much i tried
i could not wake up then i heard my mom say ambulance & right after
she sayed that i heard it, thats when i realized i wasnt dreaming.
i was kinda scared beacuse i dint know what was going on and then when
they told me i had fallen down.
i taught how if i was just sitting down what did i get up
and fall...
Well when i was on the way to the hospital i remember the whole
way thinking please God Dont let me throw up please as long as
that dont happen im okay, its kinda funny out of all the things i
was just thinking that. When instead i should have been asking please dont let me die.
At the hospital they took x-rays, and then told my mom everything was
okay and i could go home after they put staples in the cut in my head.
Honestly im glad that all that happend beacuse before that for the past
2 months or so i had felt dead inside i dint fell anything but everynow and then
just anger. nothing else. Now my mom & i are closer,
My brother & i have not faught in a while. I dont think have faught with fists since then...

I read the bible almost everyday, if i fall asleep before i read it then i read it the next day twice.
Im closer to God & i am happier :D
I go to church more =D

Heres some pics of me getting baptized :D & speaking about what i just shared =)

I apologize for taking so long, but there was no point in me responding until I was positive about what I was going to say. I spent some more time studying, and I am going to try my best to put this into words. It would be really easy if you went into the chat so we could discuss it, but I will try my best on here.

First, lets start by putting the whole passage out:

John 3

Jesus Teaches Nicodemus

1Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a member of the Jewish ruling council. 2He came to Jesus at night and said, "Rabbi, we know you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the miraculous signs you are doing if God were not with him."

3In reply Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again."
4"How can a man be born when he is old?" Nicodemus asked. "Surely he cannot enter a second time into his mother's womb to be born!"
5Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. 6Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. 7You should not be surprised at my saying, 'You must be born again.' 8The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit."
9"How can this be?" Nicodemus asked.
10"You are Israel's teacher," said Jesus, "and do you not understand these things? 11I tell you the truth, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen, but still you people do not accept our testimony. 12I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things? 13No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven—the Son of Man. 14Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, 15that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life. 16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. 19This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."

Okay, so we might as well start at verse 5 where this misconsemption is based from. If you take just verse 5 it would look very obvious that you must be babtized in water in order to get into The Kingdom of Heaven. But, if you continue to read further in verse 6, you can see that that is not so. See verse 6 says: "Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit." Now if you take this and compare it to 5 you see that being born of water Jesus is simply taking about being born in general. See, you are born again. Not born again again. For when you are born again, it is of the Spirit. You are not born of physical body again, the water represents physical body.

Looking further in the passage to verse 15, it simply says "that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life." Nothing about water babtism here. Simply believing in Christ.

John 3:5 is one of the only verses that has this misconsemption on water baptism being a necesity to geting into Heaven. These following verses clearly state what is needed to get into Heaven.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him." John 3:16-17

"Jesus said to him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6

"Let it be known to you therefore, brothers, that through this man forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you, and by him everyone who believes is freed from everything from which you could not be freed by the law of Moses." Acts 13:38-39

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek." Romans 1:16

"because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:9-13

None of these verses mention anything about water baptism, just believing in Christ. This makes it quite apparent that John 3:5, being interpreted the way that you presented it, is a misconseption.

Sorry for this being so long. God Bless you.

That honestly proved nothing. You need to go in context on John 3:5 and not just read the one verse.
