Noone can honestly answer this for you. Let God convict you. Paul talked about stuff similar to this. There are a few christan movies that cuss. The F word didn't exist in the bible times. A cuss word is a word used to hurt someone else. But anyways, the movie Passion of the Christ cussed like twice. It was Judas that cussed, and it was to show he turned from God. Just be careful, if I was to watch movies with cuss words all the time, I'd most likely start cussing.

GodLover, it is... but... walking away from it and into the things the LORD has for you has to be done in His strength.

Here is link with some scriptures that back this up (it's quite a read so prepare yourself):

. http://christianchat.com/christian-teens-forum/34708-my-mind-has-been-blown-satanism-average-persons-opinion.html#post600923

Here's some good ones too:

1Pe 1:15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
1Pe 1:16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

1Pe 2:11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
1Pe 2:12 Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.

1Th 5:22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.
1Th 5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
1Th 5:24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

Liken it to a baby trying to eat solid food. He just can't. He has to grow. Then what was difficult and confusing (about trying to do something he believed to be right, but, could not do) will become easy, and a normal part of his identity.

God is not condemning you, but, He does allow just the right amount of wind so that your roots will grow deep in Christ, leaning not on your own strength to be righteous, but, on His.

1Co 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Joh 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Here is some information on how to use the weapons of warfare the LORD has given you, allowing Christ's victory to overcome temptation (Satan):

. http://christianchat.com/christian-teens-forum/34691-encouragement.html#post598988

What's your part in all of this ? Your part is to keep growing and to put away childish things as you have [grow into] the power [grace] in Christ to put them away. It doesn't have to be a long drawn out process.

Knowing that you are right with the LORD through Christ and humility are the keys.

Examine your faith
by categorizing the fruit you see in your life. The fruit of the Holy Spirit (Gal 5) and corrupt fruit (at that link above). Take the corrupt fruit to the LORD, knowing that He is your Heavenly Father, by standing on Christ as your righteousness.

Humble yourself before the LORD and take the corrupt fruit to Him during your secret prayer time.

...And
confess corrupt fruit to a Christian brother who is bearing abundant fruit of the Holy Spirit (if you don't have someone like that in your life, any believer with works of love can be a witness).

Always declare yourself into standing on Christ, no matter how badly you mess up, before and after confession (I'm talking about other things than the bad words in movies now).

What you are looking for is Grace. Look at the Strong's definition for Grace:

G5485
χάρις
charis
khar'-ece
From G5463; graciousness (as gratifying), of manner or act (abstract or concrete; literal, figurative or spiritual; especially the divine influence upon the heart, and its reflection in the life; including gratitude): - acceptable, benefit, favour, gift, grace (-ious), joy liberality, pleasure, thank (-s, -worthy).

Divine (GOD's) influence upon your heart and how it reflects in your life.

You know how to get grace:

Jas 4:5 Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?
Jas 4:6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
Jas 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Jas 4:8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

Use that warfare link above to learn how to resist the devil (temptation), to stand on Christ as your righteousness (Psalms 18 - make His righteousness your own), and to confess your corrupt fruit to a brother in Christ to humble yourself before the LORD. He will give you grace in your heart and it will reflect/manifest His righteousness (which is your true identity) into this dark world.

Read the bible, ask the Lord about the parts you don't understand; stand on Christ as your righteousness for the parts that condemn you. The Bible is the water that renews your mind. Keep pouring it into your heart, fill your heart to the brim and keep filling it. It will change you and become the life of Christ inside you and it will be a shield all around you.

I stand with you for this prayer:

Heavenly Father,

Help me to love what You love and to hate what You hate. Lead me not into temptation. Deliver me from evil. Let my righteousness, who is Christ, manifest itself to this dark world, through me. Perfect Love in my heart. In Jesus Name, Amen.

I don't believe in swear words. I think that is a stupidity that plagues the world in which we live. How can someone be offended by an arrangement of letters? Words and meanings change from time to time. Like the word "gay" for example. There are thousands of examples throughout history like this. I believe, as someone said above, that hurting someones feelings should be "swearing". but the usage of a random word that has no insulting qualities to the person it's being spoke to? ...these are just man-made creations, these words. To the people that actually care and are offended by a simple word, Grow up.

It just doesnt make sense. I can say feces, defication, poop, crap, etc... but a simple "S" word is bad?!?! that is plain stupid to me....

For those who abide in Christ, they shall walk even as He walked. But, you will not understand without help from the God who can help.

Humble yourself before the God you don't believe in and pray something like this:

"God, I know surely that You do not exist. But if perchance You exist, which I contest, it is not
my duty to believe in You; it is Your duty to reveal Yourself to me."

Excuse me, but I hardly see any significance this has with so-called "swearing". I don't think it has ANYTHING to do with christianity. I dont think it has anything to do with any religion.

It's just stupid man-made political correctness garbage that the mindless masses bought into.

You can love and worship God and not be offended by words....

You said you are a Satanist that doesn't believe in God or Satan, right? Don't think I'm making fun either, I'm not. Pray that prayer above and read these words below. Don't fight with me about them, take them to the One who wrote them and include your questions and thoughts in that prayer.

Eph 2:2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
Eph 2:3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

Eph 4:21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:
Eph 4:22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
Eph 4:23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
Eph 4:24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

Php 1:27 Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;
Php 1:28 And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God.

1Pe 1:13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
1Pe 1:14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
1Pe 1:15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
1Pe 1:16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
1Pe 1:17 And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:
1Pe 1:18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
1Pe 1:19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
1Pe 1:20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,
1Pe 1:21 Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.

Mike,

The answers to questions concerning right and wrong are sometimes like puzzles that have to be put together a piece at a time. In the end, God is right, and man is wrong. That is why I am saying, take your questions and reasonings to Him. In humility:

Luk 18:10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.
Luk 18:11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
Luk 18:12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.
Luk 18:13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
Luk 18:14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

He will reason with you and answer your questions a piece at a time. I am not your God, though your religion seems to state that man is as close to God as it gets.

I did NOT read every post in this thread. But I AM A SATANIST and felt the need to defend this beautiful religion for other Satanist's on here that are unable to. There are definatley some major misconceptions about Satanism.

Those 2 people in that interview are NOT Satanist's. Anton Szandor LaVey disowned his daughter Zeena. She ended up hating her father in the years before his death. She and that man are now in The Temple of Set. It is a LITERAL devil worship group that actually believes in the nonsense of magic spells/etc... True Satanism, or LaVeyian Satanism is all about self worship. There is no god. There is no devil. There is only you. Indulgence instead of abstinence. Most sins lead to good things....that sort of thing.

The two in that interview are psuedo-satanists. They are more like fascists. Satanism is the opposite of fascism.

The best answer that I can give you is in the post above:

http://christianchat.com/christian-teens-forum/34891-sin-watch-movies-swear.html#post601393

But, you won't be able to understand it without some foundational pieces to the puzzle... I can't give you those pieces for the foundation. I can only lead you to Him.

Instead of trying to justify yourself against the words of Christ, stand on Him. Believe in Him and He will be your justification. Believe in Him as your justification.

Sincerely and with much love,

Steven

I actually agree with you. Swear words vary from country to country. Having traveled a fair amount i cand ef say in some places giving the traditional okay hand signal could get you shot.

I am not very concerned about that kind of stuff. I think people that abuse swear words appear stupid, but sometimes I think it kinda defines just how you feel about something in a way no other expression could ever put it across.

I draw the line at using God's name in vain.

It that point though you have to realize that no one ever uses his name in vain really. Every one i know just uses a title when they curse. I think the best way (if there is a best way) to use his name in vain, is to promise by him.

"I swear to God"

Nothing good usually comes from that...

Mat 12:34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
Mat 12:35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.
Mat 12:36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
Mat 12:37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

It's the way you use a word that determines it's power.

We would first have to establish that cussing as we use it is a sin. Cussing (or cursing) was originally actually believed to place a curse on someone, which is why it was decried as sin. Nowadays the words have lost such a meaning and are only looked down upon because of cultural sensibilities that deems said "cuss" words as "vulgar", "brutish", "uneducated", and "low class". Today the opposition to cussing is largely a carry over from when these words were decried as sin because of their original meaning.

Cussing as we use it today is no where addressed in the Bible. So if you have no problem with offending cultural sensibilities (and quite frankly you shouldn't since such sensibilities are often arbitrary) then go for it. And when you think about it even proud "non-cussing" Christians will still use the substitutes for these words (darn for the D-word, crap for the S-word, etc.). And the reason these words are acceptable is because they do not offend cultural sensibilities.

And there you have my stirring defense of some of the oldest words in our language. :)
