I honestly don't see how we moved away from the question. I mean most of the discussion has been about bible versus either for against it. And I don't recall anything too graphic.

WWJD? It is not condemned in the Bible, and I don't know if you noticed, but the Bible covers a lot of sexual immorality. Now does it fall under the category of purity? Certainly not, it is clear that it makes you unclean. And Jesus was not only virtuous and Holy, but he was pure as well. So, no I don't think he would.

I would say that most Christians strive to be pure, if that is the case, avoid masturbation. But that wasn't the question.
Masturbation falls under the term of purity and virtue because it is like fornication and adultry. Sexual immorality is the only sin that commit against your own body.

1Co:6:18: Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.

Yes masturbation is self fornication can you really not see that? Self gratification in any form is sinfulness. Another verse that explains this.

2Pe:2:10: But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities.

Walk not in the unclean works of flesh but walk after the Spirit.

Example virtue is found 6 places in the bible. You can not be virtuous and masturbate.

M'r:5:30: And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?
Lu:6:19: And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all.
Lu:8:46: And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.
Ph'p:4:8: Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
2Pe:1:3: According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
2Pe:1:5: And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

aslo any dictonary has the word defined as such:

Virtue- moral goodness, a good quality, inherent power, morally good, chaste

Virtue is a concept many do not really understand.

Praise Jesus that He regenerates our virtue, through the sanctification of the Holy Spirit. For God is LOVE (VIRTUE) I hope this helps you.

“For truly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass the law until all is accomplished. Whoever then relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who does them and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 5:18-19 RSV) Clearly the Old Testament is to be abided by until the end of human existence itself. None other then Jesus said so.

"It is easier for Heaven and Earth to pass away than for the smallest part of the letter of the law to become invalid." (Luke 16:17 NAB)

"Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest part or the smallest part of a letter will pass from the law, until all things have taken place."

Even if what you said were accurate, it doesn't make it a Sin in the first place.
2 Corinthians 3:14-18 KJV

But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ. But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart. Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away. Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

If you live by grace, the law will take care of itself. The law is there to show what Gods standard of perfect is. According to the law you can't wear mixed fabrics, or be left handed. If you break one law, Paul says you're guilty of breaking them all.

Isn't that kind of what I said?

Fornication
1. voluntary sexual intercourse outside marriage
2. (Law) Law voluntary sexual intercourse between two persons of the opposite sex, where one is or both are unmarried
3. (Christian Religious Writings / Bible) Bible sexual immorality in general, esp adultery

You could argue that is sexual immorality, but the Bible does not say that.

I won't argue that it is unclean. It is stated that it is unclean. But it is not condemned as other sexual acts are.

Jesus fulfilled the law. We don't live under law. I wasn't disagreeing with you either. Masturbating in itself isn't a sin. What makes it sin is lust.

Agreed, Lust is a Sin. Sorry for any miscommunication there.

lev.15vs15; The priest shall sacrifice them there, one for a sin offering [OR EXPIATION] and the other for a burnt offering; then the priest shall meke atonement before the Lord for the man because of his discharge. [The Living Bible version]
So, he had to make expiation for it.Expiation is made when someone sin.

That is kind of stretching. That is not a standard definition. And what edition are you using?

The version I have says this.

Definitions

verb

  1. to stimulate the genital organs of (oneself or another) to achieve sexual pleasure

Alternative Forms

ˌmasturˈbation noun ˈmasturˌbator noun
Word Origin

C19: from Latin masturbārī, of unknown origin; formerly thought to be derived from manus hand + stuprāre to defile
Synonyms

= practise self-abuse wank, jerk off, touch yourself jack off, play with yourself practise onanism toss yourself off

'practice self abuse is not given as a definition. It is given as a synonym. It is just a phrase

lev.15vs15; The priest shall sacrifice them there, one for a sin offering [OR EXPIATION] and the other for a burnt offering; then the priest shall meke atonement before the Lord for the man because of his discharge. [The Living Bible version]
So, he had to make expiation for it.Expiation is made when someone sin.

You took that out of context. Discharge is in relation to Leviticus 15:1 Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘When any man has an unusual bodily discharge, such a discharge is unclean.

Emission of semen is specifically mentioned in Leviticus 15:16

I don't think it's a sin.
It has been brought up that it doesn't say it anywhere in the bible but you shouldn't lust. If you're using pornography then you shouldn't as that is widely accepted as wrong
My personal look on it, a study showed that 98% of guys and like 70something% of girls will admit to masturbating. That'll include Christians so I think we were given that ability to keep other sexual urges at bay.
However I think god left that one unanswered so you can work it out for yourself. I honestly think it's up to how you feel about it as a person.
How's that for an answer? :)

That is pretty good for an answer.

In that case, I would recommend that you discuss this privately with a lady at your church that you trust. Or with God. The thing is, if this bothered you enough to ask, that should be your answer, shouldn't it?

It's dangerous for young ladies to discuss such matters online with adults. Please be careful, sweetie. Hugs :)

Think of it this way, would you rather assume its ok, and later find out you were wrong, and that all along you were in sin... or operate in the belief that its wrong, not do it and never have to worry? Instead of trying to push the line and see how close to sin you can get without sinning, how about just live far away from sin as you can?

Believe God, and, to get to that point, realize what it is about this that causes indifference when you do it, or, causes ALARM! in your heart. And, if you smell The Enemy grabbing you then there IS real fire and it is time for you, IF you want to stay safe, to STOP! , DRop, and pray straight at your Creator, and, mine. God. :)

I don't want to be controversial and I did not come on this thread or this 'teen' site to do anything more than see what my 'singles forum' friend was talking about problems, maybe, that she experienced of this thread and I see nothing here that is not very well said in 2-3 first pages and whole 'last' page I read.

My feelings on this subject, ultimately, stake to my God in Heaven and His Son who came to Earth to show us The Way, not to mention The Truth and The Life ways too. :)

I encourage you to listen to the olders on here like julianna, and, others, like, well, yes, the great creator of this website, MrRobo , and, others, like HearOIsrael, with words they said that spoke to me, and SolD, made some common sense point as did the person that said God could speak through a doctor on this subject of the big 'M' word.

Interesting comments, and, as I see it, and, yes , I USE to struggle with this but gave it to God in my 20s and was, Praise God!, delivered from it. Do I still struggle with it? Sure, porn is everywhere and its constan fight but God leads my life and the power of He who is in me is greater than He who is in the world. :) And, this is scripture, and it applies to you, too. :)

God bless you, follow Him , best you can, understand that Christ convicts us while Satan guilts us. Pray, pray, pray, young'uns, without ceasing, through things of thanks and things of no-thanks that discipline your life, cutting off chafe.

Masturbation: My thoughts:
1) For girls,, I found it interesting that most say Masturbation makes them drsire a man (or woman?) more. I didn't know that it was direct opposite of MY experience as a guy who has DESIRE sated by masturbation. I guess that explains the extteme paradoxical nature of this great MARRIAGE DREAM killing act as both the girl and guy end-product is anything but conducive to relationship wanting in a good God way. :(
May you , young adults, ladies and gents, call on the great power of our Lord Jesus, who freely gave us a 'helper,' His Father's (God) Holy Spirit after Jesus was baptized, who is inside us all, who believe and have ASKED Him into our heart. :)

The Lord leads.

But lev 15vs 31,32 are condemning it because defilement brings to death

honestly the idea of pleasuring yourself based upon lustful thoughts itself should be enough to convict people that it is not a good habit and it invites bad things; remember how Jesus said but i tell you if you look at a woman with lust in your heart you have already committed adultery with her, i imagine it is the same for females or similar. Apart from that it is not very healthy at all, trust me i was into that jazz too and it is not good, all i get now are wet dreams and even those are the equivalent of sin and evil and bad things that i really would like to avoid since they are based on lust and just drain my energy :(

don't give the devil any footsteps, shut him out, and believe me that masturbation is not only unclean but it could be considered a worldly pleasure that satifies only YOUR craving and your desires, it does not share intimacy and is more selfish than selfless!

CryingRose94, christianity is not about right or wrong, it is about doing things that benefit you and others. That is what paul continually wrote in the letters. If there is anything that doesn't help you or build you up, the best you can do is cut it out. God bless
"Christianity is not about right or wrong?" I then I have to ask, is that right or wrong? In a Chrisitian mindset we percieve concepts in terms of right or wrong. Chrisitianity stands for absolute truth and declairs to the world what is right based on morals from what God says. Be careful with your wording. A relatavist would have taken that to mean you agree with him that it is impossible to find truth, but we know that the Bible holds truth and establishes standards of right and wrong. It is about what benefits others and a person often overlooks judgement through mercy and love.

It can be argued that masterbation does help someone. It can be said that it prevents someone from commiting fornication which clearly is in the Bible.

Masterbation is not clearly identified as a sin in the Bible. Some might argue that it falls in the category of sexual immorality which is in the Bible, but we really don't know, because it doesn't specify what that means.

1 Corinthians 10:13

No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

i believe it depends, if ur watching porn and masterbating then YES! if its in privacy of ur home and lets say ur married and wife is tired or not home then NO its okay
