No. Works alone does not get one into heaven. You either believe or you don't.

No! If he has claimed that statement, he has done it without Scripture. Who is he to make such decision? Jesus said clearly, that he is the way the truth and the life. No one can come to him but through God.

If an atheist however repented and turns to God, and follow Jesus, then yes he would have that chance to go to heaven.
by Pope Francis statement, in a way he is saying sinners can go to heaven. You are with God or against him, say clearly in the bible. anyone who is against God, is classed as a non believer, atheist, or anti-Christ. and Non of them will enter heaven.
So I think that Pope Francis needs to address people properly, but with scriptural backing. before he go against God's own words.

I guess this is what you are talking about.

Pope Francis is trying to deepen our understanding of the fullness of Christ's sacrifice and its reach, which extends to all men and women. We often fall into familiar ways of thinking that are closed. We divide ourselves into groups, forgetting that we are all children of God, identical, regardless of any divisions we establish for ourselves. We are also all called to the One who created us and, through His Son,is recreating us anew. He calls us to accept His salavation.

You cant make her believe in anything, it has to come from here personally, Just be a good example, and hopefully she will see that God is working in you, and she may feel or have the want to be like you to belive in someone who is true. Just be patient.

I believe that the person who dies as an Atheists will not enter heaven, but the Atheist who turns to God just before his death, will enter heaven. We see this clearly with the crucifixion of Jesus Christ where the one person gave his heart to Christ that last moment and Jesus said to him that he will enter heaven.
But for the pope, who is also being viewed as the anti-Christ world wide and also not a pure believer, makes a statement that an Atheist will enter heaven by doing good deeds whilst he still do not believe in God, is not true. Satan, who the main Atheist, will never ever enter the heaven and so his friends and angels.

There will be no Atheists in heaven at the end of times.

If my sister believes in God and Jesus is that enough so she can enter Heaven? She doesnt like how the Bible doesnt like gay people.

why not wait ten years or so and ask me the question again. by then i will have had time to sit down with the apostle paul and discuss it. isnt the real problem not who goes to heaven but rather what do we do about that beggar in the doorway.

The pope is Catholic, not Christian. He is a sinner, like the rest of us, touted as sinless and that he speaks for God. He does not. I suggest, unless you want to be Catholic, ignoring the pope all together.

I believe that it is not enough. How can anyone be saved if they cannot accept the Word of God, the Bible in totality? She needs to accept the facts and if God says NO then it is NO. It is as simple as that.

No.

Bible verses:

The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.
Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good. - Psalms 53:1

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. - Romans 10:9

Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
- Acts 4:10-12

When we begin saying what a person must do in order to get to Heaven, we are making ourselves the judge instead of God. Many people never get a chance to hear the real Gospel.

That's not what the Pope is saying. I would think salvation is a little more than "you either believe or don't". Satan believes. There are plenty of evil people that believe.

That's the problem...God states in the Bible what it takes to get into Heaven. A "conscience" doesn't save. We are judges.

Many people still don't know who Jesus is? Many people hear the real Gospel and still haven't been saved.

Point being...if people do not have salvation they will not go to Heaven.

Atheists will not enter Heaven. However, I don't believe that's what the Pope is saying at all. I think his words are being twisted into something they are not.
