Is it wrong to lie? Like if you ask someone for help and the problems real but the context isn't because it's just easier then telling them who you are? I don't know. I guess Im a compulsive liar or something because I seem to lie a lot. Does that make me a bad person? For not wanting to tell the truth?

to answer your first question, yes it's wrong to lie. One of God's ten commandments is "thou shall not bear false witness" or in other words, lie.. I'm not sure what you mean by the problems real but the context isnt.. could you elaborate on that a bit please? and btw, honesty is ALWAYS the best policy. :)

I'm not really sure how to explain but like if for example you was getting bullied and you wanted to ask someone online for help then I might say that I'm a girl because guys have this stereotype of being strong and being able to fight and stand up for themselves and Id feel worse saying that I can't live up to these expectations than lying to someone. sorry that's a really bad example but I can't think of anything else to use

ahh..okay.. well, not all people, even boys or men are able to stick up for themselves and defend themselves against bullies. You need only to live up to GOD'S expectations of you, and not what society expects from you. It's okay if you backslide, because we all make mistakes but God is merciful in forgiving us if we repent of our sin. Ask him for help in telling the truth from now on. Good luck. :)

Why even ask for something that may likely only return false advise and suggestions because you have lured people into talking about something that doesn't really exist as you describe it?

Right ok I've thought of a better example then the one before. So if I get in a fight with an online friend and I ask for advice from a friend at school then I'd tell them this other friend goes to a different school or lives on my street and I know them in real life because otherwise I'd have the whole don't talk to strangers thing. So like usually it's something like that and it won't really effect the advice much? Idk

I don't know what they say in the US, but in the netherlands we have a proverb.
Means this. "Honesty will dure the longest"
When you're honest about things, you're 1) following the rules of God. 2) making things easier to understand. When your friend just know that you have internetfriends, you could talk easier about other things too.

Honesty is God's policy. I believe we all should endeavor to make it OUR own personal policy, as well.. :)

Tell the truth in the hope you will always have that opportunity. But don't worry if you do lie, because sometimes people don't give you that opportunity

some of the answers are right. some of the answers are wrong.

some of the answers could be at different times right and/or wrong...... so.....

i think in God's Grace if you are able to read PSALM 119 that that will be most beneficial.

read it all, it's a long chapter right near the middle of the bible. read it in sections over 3 days if need be.

ask God for His Answer to your questions. He will tell you.(if He has called or chosen you).

I'll do that but if it's not too much to ask please could you get me a link or just tell me a site where I could read it?

I did not know older people could come on this part of the site??humm ok. To the young folks in whom the Lord cares for so much as well, let me have you just consider this as to why telling lies are so bad. I had to learn this the hard way myself!

Beyond the fact as some have talked about the Lord actually hates this!( Proverbs 6:16-19) what makes a lie so bad is that it is like a cancer that grows upon the individual. A person starts to tell, what they call a little white lie, example Santa Claus will not visit you if you are a bad person, and grows into telling big lies, then they have to remember the lie they told to that person, and add further until it just becomes to much, and no body starts to believe you in anything!

And you wonder why people look to avoid you! People do not always say you are telling me a lie,but they sure know! How long can one put dirt under a carpet, and someone does not trip over it?? I think you get the point. Now the real heartache of the lie. Some get so good they think at telling one, they even lie to themselves!

That person is in real trouble then! The bondage of the lie goes all the way back to Adam and Eve( gen 3:1-7), so it is sure not a new sin,but it sure can become an enduring sin,and this is why is a lie is so very evil! So I hope you will consider this as I did, when Jesus found me,because after all is said and done you truly become what you truly believe! And those you think you can deceive through this darkness are no longer around you in the darkness, because the light comes on, and you are all alone!
