while we were still sinners Christ died for us,every scripture is profitable for doctrine and reproof..we goto take God at His word and we cannot compromise with the world's standards coz the Bible says if you become a friend of this world you become an enemy to God.Jesus told Pilate that no power is given to him unless it is given to him by God.when we are lead by the HolySpirit and when He starts to work in our lives,He helps us to bring our body under subjection where we do not yield ourselves to the desires of the flesh.Everyone has to give an account of ourselves to God,so if our conduct is causing our fellow bretheren to sin, lets not do it..we goto take God at His word and not use it according to our own Convinience.we goto to be dead to sin and become alive in Christ..David had to suffer the consequences throughout his life after the adultery, but still God forgave him and took him back..The best way to preach to gospel is to live it..lets not be conformed to the world but lets be transformed by His word..

I once wanted to get a tattoo, but since I've became a Christian, I'm not going to. Our body is the temple of God, why should we defile it with some form of markings or piercings? Christians should set examples, and to see someone walking around with a bunch of tattoos isn't right. If someone seen you drinking and knew you were a hardcore Christian, then they would think its okay to go and drink all the time, when reality the Bible tells us its a sin to be drunk. It's the same reason why I wear a suit to church, I want to be presentable, and by getting piercings and tattoos I'm not being presentable to society as a Christian. As Christians we want to save people and show them the light that our savior Jesus, and if we are "crisp and clean" looking then we will portray a good image, and attract people.

I think some of my thoughts may have gotten jumbled up, hopefully you get the jist of what I'm trying to say.

Sorry that does come off judgmental, I didn't mean for it to, but my point is that we must set examples just like our parents set examples for us, as Christians we must set an example for future Christians. I'm not saying that someone with a bunch of tattoos and stuff isn't right (I know that's what I said, but now how I meant to put it) Society will judge you as not presentable though, right? That is just my personal opinion.

I think a few years ago they would have judeged that way. But times are changing. The youth of today are the adults of tomorrow, and the youth of today are A LOT different then the youth of yesterday.

I find myself to be presentable , despite my tattoos and piercings, and so does my church.

When I say a bunch of tattoos I mean visible ones, like on your neck and arms and such, now my parents both have tattoos and they're presentable, but they are also meaningful, and got them before they were Christian. But there a lot of people in this world who go out and get a tattoo of some skull or dragon that covers 1/3 of the body or something.

To me if I was a CEO of a business or something and you came in looking like that for an interview to go and sell stuff for my company, you wouldn't be representing my company well. Because society frowns upon it, its not crisp and clean.

I still stand on the fact that if you are Holy Ghost filled then
1Co 3:16 " Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?"
Therefore we must keep it Holy, and not deface it. Does that make sense?

I'm not saying that your not a good person or your not presentable because you have a couple of piercings or tattoos, but some people just take it too far, Christian or not. Its not my place to say those things, I'm just giving my opinion on the subject (Sometimes opinions and judging can be very close and mistaken)

So in one part you say there is nothing wrong with tattoos and then you pull out 1 corinthians 3:16? Who is to judge if a tattoo is defacing it? are you? Or also you said that your parents' tattoo's are representable, well if you just say they are fine their, but then say they aren't elsewhere then you aren't very solid in this belief of yours.

Sometimes, I have a hard time getting my thoughts from my head and actually putting them into words, I know what I'm trying to say but it comes out one big mess. Tattoos are a very small thing, and for most it's not a concern, but the way I look at it, is , what would Jesus do? It doesn't state clearly about it in the Bible, but that's what I feel, it's what God has put into my head. I'm just going to be quiet now, because I can't always get my thoughts out clearly.

Kathleen, you have the same name as me but mines is speeled with a Y. :)

But Yo, I agree with Kathleen. Its Sinning. Real Talk. Check Out Leviticus.

Leviticus 19:28
  • "Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD."

If the word of GOD is not enough for you to believe that its NOT right, then theres no debating with ya.

Last week I got probably 3 piercing or so. But they were all by accident. I started working for some omish on a construction crew and I was carrying some boards around and I got slivers in the process. Realy if you think about that, that is a piercing. But that is the closest thing to a pircing I ever plan on getting.

Take note of that. I'm not going to put any of my interpretation on it, but just make sure you examine the whole thing and not pull out what you see at first. Remember also that the pagans did this, but they did it for spiritual purposes.

Notice also, the phrase "for the dead" is ONLY referencing the "cuttings in your flesh". The condemnation of "nor print ANY marks upon you" is not qualified by the phrase "for the dead". Also, if you’ll notice the verse clearly says "ANY marks" period.

Heres the thing though. Do a history check on tatoo's who were the first people to wear them. I read someware that the pirates wore them and they became mainstreem in America during the hippy movement triggered partialy by completely anti-christ Beatles. This is also when it became eceptable for a man to wear an earing in America I believe. Most women started wearing pants then as well. So you see men started feminizing and women started masculating. Take all the other contraversal things that the Americans are starting to eccept and do a research on them. Probably most of them are pagan and demonic.

Rock Music--alters a persons state of consciousness and allows for demonic influence, I believe it originated from the voodoo drum beats in Africa.

Yoga- I believe it helps channel demonic spirits

Christmas Tree- The word "green tree" appears in the Bible 14 times and almost every time it is linked to worship of false gods in fact a lot of those verses say under the green tree. Well what do you do under the Christmas Tree. You kneel and place a gift. A form of false worship. What did the wise men do when they came to see Jesus? They gave them gifts.

"White" magic---no such thing

And so on.

Actually the Christmas tree originated with pope Boniface when he said lets let Christ be the center of our home so the put up a tree in the middle of the house all year round, but its evolved since then. :)
Are you against women wearing pants?
Tattoosactually originated with slavery in England they put numbers on the slave because they were property but it is different now so it doesn't really matter. :)
Yoga- is what you make it
