Pornography is one of the biggest pits christians (or anyone) can fall into. I myself struggled with it but have gotten out it (thanks be to God, my rock and my strength). This sin is a real true secret even between fellow Christians. So, not that I'm trying to blast you to hell, but does anyone have anything to say, confess, need support or help with, etc? I'd love to help some peeps, and I'm sure there are others here who have gone through this issue. If someone's brave enough you can even bring up *gulps* ma--ma---mastrubation. Guys or girls, it's no secret--society has really got some MESSED UP standards of okay. What do you all think?

Well, as far as I know there are no problems physically with it. I tried a trial and error method: i started with porn. Then I realized "well, i just will ahve standarads. I won't look at stuff that has this." I preayed about it. I worked with God with it. Imagine that--working with God to make sin not sin. Haha I don't think so. Eventually I narrowed it down to "gee, porn is bad" and I stopped.

Then came mastrubation. I had to stop taht too. Or did I? I did some research. Apparently knowhere in the bible does it say you cannot mastrubate. HOWEVER GOD WANTS US TO BE PURE. You try mastrubating without porn, wrong thoughts, wrong desires, etc. and then you tell me it's possible.

I tried this. I narrowed it down again to trying to think about nothing except just knowing that "yep, this is sex. It's hot." Nope. After FOREVER and much prayer, I finally decided that, for me, it just doesn't work. HOwever, that's me. If you find something tell me.

For once this may actually be a grey area in life--neither explicitally wrong or right.

People, thoguths, commetns, etc?

I personally dont believe masterbation is a grey area.... I feel it is a cop out to say otherwise. Most men would like to make that excuse to themselves so they may continue doing it. Obviously your thoughts are not in the right place while your doing it... and the reason why you are gonna do it is because you feel you need that sexual release. Well your not gonna explode if you dont get it. My personal belief is ... its never okay to do that. And thats what i got to say bout that

I agree and have researched it myself, the bible does not say specifically that masturbation is a sin...and it does say to stay pure and not to have wrong thoughts...but like he said...you try having peaceful thoughts to masturbation....and thats why I'm threw with it completely

grim...thats what this forum is for exactly...not to feel wierd or embarassed but to feel comfortable talking with pple dealing with the same issues. Otherwise we have no one else to confide in.

Lest you fall into temtation...the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak

I just recently went off porn after serious contemplation in the matter. It often comes back to mind but I try to remember that it's a temptation of Satan andtry to avert my thoughts. I still have a bit of a problem resisting masturbation, unfortunately.

I for one struggled with porn and finally got delivered out of it, and i got delivered out of masturbation also.
But let me tell you this, masturbation and porn are both wrong no matter how much you try to manipulate the issue as being right.
Once your soul gets attached to it ..your soul starts to give birth to sin ..which grows up to be death.
I'm encouraging all of you to take a stand for yourself if you haven't already , porn and masturbation can ultimately destroyyou , and i know that this is true because it destroyed me until i finally accepted help.

And you gys should also know that you are committing adultery too.

Once your eyes get fixed on that person you are looking at, and you start to lust in your heart, then you have already committed adultery against God.

I saw porn for the first time when I was 8 (I had "interesting" friends who showed it to me), and I slowly watched more and more until I had to watch it every day by the time I was 11. Masturbation started at the same time. By the time I was 14/15 I was controlled by it. I had to do it before school after school when I was bored and before I went to bed. I actually hated sleeping over at people's houses because then I couldn't masturbate. That was around the same time I was raped. I was talking to guys on the internet, and they encouraged masturbation, and to go further..... anyways God sent somebody into my life, and I was saved I was living for God and I still am today. Things are hard when I'm sad or angry porn, and masturbation jump to my mind but I know with God's help I will be able to change it. He will change the desires of my heart.

I used to deal with porn and all that stuff (the worst time was around when I was 11-13, basically addicted), and a lot of the times afterwards I felt depressed and angry and dirty. But I heard from a Bible study that are bodies are temples of God, and that we need to keep ourselves pure. I managed to get over it, but it was really hard.
And I found out the hard way that if I was tempted to not do it, because afterwards I felt a lot better knowing that I didn't give in to sin. Yes, I do think it's a sin as well.
But I'm really glad that God gave me teh strength to stop (though sometimes temptation comes back). This is the first time I've ever been able to tell anyone, so it's kind of like letting a weight off...

Daniella, one of the steps in an addicts program is remove yourself from people places or things, that could cause you to relapse.... So i say this as in, you need to remove yourself from the situation that is tempting for you..... Turn the computer off... Find something else to do.... get out of your house... even if its just outside to walk around... anything is better than the alternative....
