I told of my friend, and the gospel of Jesus Christ. How that my friend was kicked from out house because of something he did. And how that he repented of it. And he was able to come in again, so long as he was with me.

I told also of how that Jesus showed me his gospel this way. And how that as long as we are with him, we have a right to enter into the House of the Lord again. And as long as we are with him, we have access to the promises of the Father. And now I want to talk about praying, in the name of Jesus.

When I was young, my brothers and I would like to play video games. We didn't have many games of our own, so we had to constantly rent them from the video game store. But many times, we could not rent games, because we hadn't done chores, or because we were in trouble, or because my dad did not want us to. So most of the time we would try to get each other to ask dad, because we feared that he would tell us no. Actually, I didn't fear asking him, and my brothers always pushed me to ask, because they figured he always told me yes, and them no.

This was not the case really. They just didn't know him well enough to know HOW to ask him. And they would do something to get in trouble before the day we could rent games, so that was an automatic no. I knew when he was in a good mood, and when he would say yes, and that is when I ask, but some days he would not be in a good mood, and though they wanted to get games, I would tell them that he was going to say no, and that we shouldn't ask. And sure enough, they would ask and he would say no.

I guess they figured it was favoritism, but it wasn't. If they did something bad, they shouldn't expect him to say yes to them. And if they didn't do the chores, they shouldn't expect him to say yes to them. But if they did well, and if they did what they were supposed to do, then he would say yes.

Sometimes my brothers would say to my dad that I wanted to know if we could go outside, or get a game. Trying to use my name to pacify the demeanor of my dad.

Well, let's talk about Jesus. This is what it means to pray in the name of Jesus. Pray simply means to ask. Jesus is pleasing to the Father, so using his name, he is pleased to answer, for Jesus's sake. It is like saying to God, ''Can I have....'' And since we don't come in our own name (like my brother's didn't in their own), he is pleased to answer. Yet, in the same way if we have a sin against us, or if we ask wrongly, we shouldn't expect anything from God. We then need to repent and then try to come back. I remember these words:

Matt 5:23 Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;
Matt 5:24 Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

This is the same thing that happened between Cain and Able. Cain had an issue in his heart, so his gift was not accepted. Let's see it.

Gen 4:6 And the Lord said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?
Gen 4:7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him. * *
Gen 4:8 And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.
Gen 4:9 ¶And the Lord said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother's keeper?

So, if our heart is wrong, or our conscience is not clear, we should not expect our prayers to be answered. So lets end it with the words of Jesus Christ:

John 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
John 14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
John 14:14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
John 14:15 ¶If ye love me, keep my commandments.

John 15:16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
John 15:17 These things I command you, that ye love one another.
John 15:18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.

John 16:23 And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.
John 16:24 Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.
John 16:25 These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father.

John 16:26 At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you:
John 16:27 For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.
John 16:28 I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.

(These last three verses are very interesting)

May Jesus bless you.

1 From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?
2 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.
3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
5 Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?
6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
James 4
